This shows the sort of data that Proton Mail, which prides itself both on end-to-end encryption and that it's only governed by Swiss privacy law, can provide to third parties. In this case, the FBI. @evystadium.bsky.social has more.

The FBI Is Using AI to Hack Targets
AI is a “game changer” for what the FBI calls remote access operations, an FBI official said in response to a 404 Media question on Tuesday.
"I see AI as having applicability across, again, every single tactic that would be relevant to those on-network operations, So it's a game changer in that sense.”
Yeah, the FBI is using AI to hack targets, saying it has "tremendous benefits."

All the Ways Big Tech Fuels ICE and CBP
A WIRED analysis shows that ICE and CBP have collectively spent at least $515 million on products from Microsoft, Amazon, Google, and Palantir in the last few years alone.
As the federal immigration crackdown has expanded across the United States, the government’s activities have relied on infrastructure from several key tech companies. Palantir has received particular attention for its work with ICE.

Quote from Washington Times editorial board
"[Radical liberals] don't realize that, when they express contempt for the man who holds the country's highest office, they reveal their contempt for the Americans who put him there."
Uh no...we definitely realize it.

I'm late Gen X and all I'm saying is Millennials got fucked harder than anyone else. They were raised on post 9/11 American media and government and it's just been an endless stream of shit. And I'm not even talking about the 09 collapse. The wars, watching guns shred schools, social media insanity

The two things that I think REALLY separate Millennials and Gen X, are
1. Gen X was born into a declining world - that's what undergirds their stereotypical cynicism. But Millennials were came of age during an upswing. Only to have every good thing systemically taken away from them.

Everyone skips past the 02 financial crisis because 09 was so bad.
But depending on how you parse millenial...it's been bad for awhile but also the worst bit is they grew up during a period where things were getting better and then got the rug pulled out from under them.

Actually, the left is winning the AI debate
But it does need to get organized.
The left is not "missing out" on AI. It's winning the argument. Americans worry about AI and dislike tech CEOs. They're mobilizing against data centers. They support regulation, even refusal.
Calls for the left to embrace AI are an effort to change the terms of the debate in Silicon Valley's favor.

FBI agents visited my home about an article I wrote, and now I can't go to Mexico
Mexico formally requested the FBI's help in seeking answers about one of my stories. Having federal agents on my doorstep sparked my own years-long effort to pry information out of the FBI to explain ...
In 2020, the FBI came to my house to try to ask me questions about a story I'd written. I declined.
For this.weekinsecurity.com, I wrote about the back-story of what happened that day and after, my outstanding questions, and why press freedoms have taken a major step back under Trump's second term.
