Stephen King’s It is clearly one of the shows big inspirations and that story was clearly not afraid to kill its leads. Not every story can end happy for every character, it is a balance!
And this horror story has made it a pattern of keeping every main character safe while introducing memorable side characters to kill every season. After the 3rd time, this really starts to lose the impact. Need to change it up in SOME way.
I get, in theory, what some people say that Stranger Things final season doesn’t need to kill any of the main characters to give the story stakes. But this is a horror story.
