Weβve had viable solutions for mobility both within & between cities for a long time, like high-speed rail, prioritized public transit and networks of protected bike-lanes. We need leadership. And we need to stop letting βshiny new techβ distract us from implementing them. Image via UrbanThoughts11
Spent the day today down at White Bay for Sydney Bus Musuemβs BusFest.
Over 60 buses on display, including this line up buses sporting the various liveries of the old family run bus operators now owned by CDC here in NSW.
The 445 heading back to Balmain East is a good idea for network connectivity. Apart from local residents and those holding a disability permit, there is no reason for any cars to travel or park down there. Bring on the buses!
3693 is the oldest route bus in Sydney, a 1996 Scania Ansair Orana.
It features a low floor, wheelchair spaces and air conditioning. Luxury for the 90s, when the standard was high floor non-air-conditioned buses.
A testament to 90s engineering, technology today means new buses wonβt last as long.
It seems like a critical mass of those I liked on the other app are now here. Certainly an interesting experiment at the very least. Hopefully a far less toxic ecosystem and a more positive experience
This is certainly the best type of industrial action. Wouldnβt it be great if Sydney could have 24 hour trains every weekend
