Woke since 1946. Retired and now take care of my sister’s 7 rescued horses. I’m getting old and I don’t respond to personal messages. Remembering the 1950s and 60s, women and minorities were respected a lot less than they are now. I don’t want to go back.
Topaz was a spirited horse. Her mother was the fastest local racehorse of her time. her father a champion Connemara. She loved art posters and jumped to win ribbons. Jumping in front of an audience was her passion. I saw her pretending to be at horse show all by herself.

Bramble thought she was being punished wearing a halter for the first time. In this moment she smiled seeing her friend Sister wearing one. Peer pressure. A month before they were rounded up and sent to a kill pen. They were both rescued from dire circumstances.
My feral friend Bruiser always wanted my company while he ate a meal. He kept Declan and another horse company while they ate hay.
Sister saw me sitting on a bench so she walked over to see me.
Beluga whales like to entertain themselves and people. They crack me up.

Dandy was a champion Connemara show jumper. He was magnificent to see.
One day I went over a horse jump. He turned his head away in disgust then went over the jump in perfect form then wanted me to try again. I could tell he thought I was pitiful and unteachable but didn’t want to hurt my feelings.

Topaz was a Connemara thoroughbred cross. A magnificent show jumper who loved performing at horse shows. She was always badly behaved when it was time to go home and was grumpy for days. If she didn’t win a ribbon I had to give her one so she’d leave the show ring. I loved her dearly.

Cyclone Daryl raced at Churchill Downs. When rescued he was quite nervous. These days he’s quite happy and calm. His herd life is good.
Nobody had a better friend than Jojo.

Sister has a plan to get more affection. As soon as I’ve given her lots of attention she walks away and allows me to fuss over other horses. She walks to the exit gate and waits for me to try to go home without giving her more love.
I spent some quiet time with Willow.
When I arrived some horses were asleep with Daryl and Sister watching over them.
