a pigeon stands stuck in a square of wet concrete
"treading water"
seems like something he'd say. in fact i read this in his voice
"jaylenosblog" followed me on tumblr. his tl is just 3 posts of him working on his cars, so I have no choice but to believe it's actually him
WIPs, cuz Why Not
a cluttered table with a notepad, pens, a handtowel, a pair of glasses, some mail, and a houseplant all crowded around a book in the center titled "negative thoughts & where you can fuckin' put em." there is also a mug full of delicious steaming coffee (or tea, it's your adventure) nearby.
"reading material"
some w.i.p.s (I started this on a flight using my phone as a flashlight so I didn't get a good pencils-only shot)
3 panels of ocean waves crashing against a rocky shore. In each panel the waves push further and further down until they completely submerge the rocks in the final panel.
"permission structure"
who needs amphetamines when you can just watch devin williams pitch with a lead in a close game
now this is the content I follow you for
a cut-out silhouette of a large humanlike figure walks through a wooded area near a stream.
all done. "here goes nothing"
...hey, who am I talkin' to?
it's funny, in years past I would pore over every single detail. all the elements would have to be just right, everything at the same ridiculous standard. to think of the time wasted on meticulously cleaning up linework. now in post-AI times, I find myself appreciating the warmth of little mistakes

allow me to feed some more data to the insatiable beast of the world wide web. trying to jump through from conceptβsketchβfinal at a quicker pace, as it demands, but I also kinda like how messy and imperfect it's turning out
one of my teachers in art school told me to scan everything you make, no matter what, and i've been doing that ever since
a black cat on a tiled floor jumps at the sight of a bug before him. there is a big red exclamation point to signify his !!surprise!!
it's done, and i'm posting it. called a last minute audible and decided to color it irl instead of digital, which I'm trying to do more of these days. this has kind of a nice weird visual effect that (sadly) doesn't translate to a flat scan, but that didn't stop me from also doing that
some wippy wips for good measure. time for bed zzz
a black cat on a tiled floor is startled by a small bug. there's an exclamation point in here so you know this is a big reaction
it's 3am again. there needs to be some kinda like internet bartender who cuts me off after too many scrolls. here's a thing I've been doing about a cat who's a little on edge, much like myself
i refuse to work under these conditions
sketchbook page featuring a man barbecuing in his backyard. the franks and burgers are floating up into the air. there's a blue mechanical pencil to the left of the sketchbook.
feels like forever since i've had time to draw something completely random. they used to call it 'daydreaming.' anyway here's a new thing cooking:
some process shots. the grip/shape of the hand bothered me early on and by the time I was done rendering the background, I decided to re-do it completely. I like that you can see my pencil whittle down to basically nothing by the end
Amongst a backdrop of a lush grove, a scarred and bloodied hand reaches up to pick a golden fruit from a branch.
"fruit of labor"
16" x 20"
graphite & color pencil on paper
seems like a good time to post this one
a pic of the OG, before color:
A pile of cigarette butts in a red ashtray sits in the center of a small kitchen table in an apartment. on the right side, a man is smoking and sitting on the windowsill, looking out. a pigeon sits at the window on the left.
"afternoon delight"
#sundayscaries
bonus: WIP shot!
A large anthropomorphic rabbit wearing a crown of roses and a flowing robe cradles a cat in its arms. Several woodland creatures crawl over and around it, clinging to its shoulders. The image is framed by intertwining roses.
some more recent stuff...
