I do not fuck with crappy chocolate, as the kids say. A) I have hypersensitive taste buds, and it tastes like wax, bland sugar, and disappointment, and B) why eat things that taste sad?? I don't even use chocolate chips, mostly, because they do not "work" right for good recipes.

Before people go all, "oooh, look at the rednecks living in a place without plumbing" -- this was a deliberate choice on my parents' part, right up there with living off the grid with only (highly inefficient) solar panels and a tiny 9" B&W TV with one good channel (PBS) and one crappy channel (CBS)

To be clear, this was a deliberate choice on my parents' part. They could afford a standard house, but chose not to do that.

- negotiating about my mom's cpap machine, which she doesn't use and costs $$ every month
- arranging for senior photos for Resident Teen
- double-checking on paperwork required for next week's DRS visit
- reminding teen to make themselves a dr appt
- taking teen to a social activity

- negotiating about my father's intended gift of a family heirloom gun for my youngest's birthday
- finding the paper propane bill, which was presumably stuck somewhere outside when they filled up the tank this morning (anywhere from $900-$1800)

today's to-do list includes:
- calling and getting a 20% discount for paying in full on youngest's therapy services
- calling and harassing the therapy billing office into resuming letting us pay the cash price, which is 40% cheaper than the price *after* insurance

I keep "emergency" meals in the freezer/pantry just for this reason! I do not have the spoons at 5pm to come up with a meal!

Oh, I think mainly I was interested in the sensory issues, which read to me as very autism coded. In a way, I think about it as a classic adhd/autism pairing 😂

Made some good brown rice with broth & cumin and coriander in the rice cooker and put this on it (frozen spinach, less lemon, extra curry powder, boneless skinless frozen chicken, sub coconut milk for heavy cream) -- b/c when you make most meals, you need easy on weeknights

I was sad, but OH brought me yellow cake with strawberry sprinkles, a scoop of ice cream, and a bit of chocolate syrup, and you know what? I'll take the carbohydrate-based serotonin.
