"It’s hard to come up with any other explanation for the way the ruling class go into panic mode the moment there's any sign of mass mobilisation, and especially mass direct action, and usually try to distract attention by starting some kind of war."

Thank you email for joining the Green Party

Thank you email for joining the Green Party

Just joined UK’s Green Party for a few reasons. Starmer himself suggested ppl like me leave the Labour Party when he assumed leadership. Request granted. But the Greens’ recent success & polling (and more importantly their policy goals!) show them to be robust & viable.

Europe prepares for higher energy prices after US attack on Iran The EU imports nearly all its fossil fuels, leaving it vulnerable to geopolitical conflict.

Europe is bracing for a surge in energy prices from a prolonged conflict in the Middle East that would put more pressure on the EU's struggling economy and expose its near-total reliance on foreign fossil fuels.

The war on Iran likely brings a new oil price shock and windfall profits.

So, who stands to win?

Our research shows: Last time around (2022), the US reaped the largest fossil fuel profits of any country ($377bn). 50% went to the top 1%, only 1% to the bottom 50%. A🧡

5/5 Any approach rooted in apoliticism, centrism, or liberalism amounts to nothing else but an avoidance of our responsibilities to leverage our privileges, in order to organise and advocate for change that benefits all of society.

4/5 This is a Green Party that's showing how they're relevant to people's current social and economic conditions, rather than taking a timid approach and not being forthcoming in their messaging for fear of 'alienating' more moderate voters, as others have preferred to do in the past.

3/5 It's a given that if people are experiencing extreme levels of precarity, messaging that taps into these economic needs is going to resonate with them.

The maps that reveal the truth about Britain’s most contested constituency SPECIAL REPORT: Deprivation, diversity and uneven growth have culminated in the Gorton and Denton constituency defined by conflicting realities. David Dubas-Fisher and James Holt report.

2/5 I've seen critiques that the Green Party didn't focus enough on environmental issues. Parts of Gorton and Denton experience extreme levels of economic deprivation - it has, for example, the highest rate of child poverty in England and Wales.

1/5 The Green Party victory in Gorton and Denton is the most recent reminder that apolitical and centrist approaches to organising, campaigning etc. will never garner broad support from the masses.

In the north of Ireland we have some experience of paramilitary terror. If you're in England and tempted to vote Reform, bear in mind that ICE-style gangs will be hard to stand down. They will leave a bitter legacy. You live with it forever.

The Radical Politics of Nina Simone Nina Simone, who died on this day in 2003, is often remembered for her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement – but she was also a socialist who saw revolution as the path to true equality.

"We never talked about men or clothes. It was always Marx, Lenin, and revolution - real girls’ talk."

In the 1950s youth clubs became so popular that in Huntingdon the local Young Tories complained about losing members to places that looked like they were much more fun! The associations were even able to get 400 ppl into the Cambridge guildhall for a ball in 1954. Also, council run centres in 1971.

"Finnish is my native language, yet people still speak to me in English" – How international adoptees feel marginalised in Finland International adoptees in Finland want their voices to be heard in discussions about Finnish identity, immigration, and working life.

"The definition of Finnishness is tied to whiteness, and belonging to Finland is interpreted based on appearance and skin colour."

Ethnic Finns get othered too if "they look foreign" - I've been spoken to in English plenty of times, also in Helsinki.
