So stylish!
Honestly the writing for the Core Tone Guidelines is also solid. When mixed with a recent reading of Outgunned it has inspired something about societal perception and how damage is perceived and taken.
@ironredoubt
Another nerd on the net. I run roleplaying games as a game master, love boardgames, and discussing film and television! Happy to discuss and brainstorm! I use https://game-icons.net/ for many of my game assets!

It's Awesome
Now I am envisioning "Weak and Powerless" playing in her head. Gotta listen to A Perfect Circle as you do the deed!
My wife is the artistic one. I do very basic gimp image manipulation. I'm putting together some info to tempt her.

"What does that do/mean?"
She was confused that unlike a board game we wouldn't share dice. That some people had multiple sets, and how we instinctively would not use each others dice, using only communal dice for large die rolls. The intuitive hierarchy of dice and their status shocked her.
That reminds me, back in university my gaming group had a friend join for a short session. She was doing a sociology paper on 'microcultures' (RPG's weren't as big then) Her takaway and focus of her paper after gaming with us. Dice superstition and behaviors.
Depending, besides murder hobos some people might see small action (saving people under the thumb) to be either too difficult, or to systemic for them to be able to help, and slaying the big bad through them is the overall best use of their skills.
Working on my own campaign setting for a genesys #ttrpg
I HATE making gear lists, but I know as a player they are often quite fun and inspiring to peruse.
Going with a boardgame next. This one captured my heart and mind, I can't get enough of it.
Spirit Island... and all it's wonderful expansions. I hope it survives the death of it's publisher.

Lets start with my current videogame that I am spending too much time on. Gotta love the different elements in it.
Happy to share all the kinds of games I love. TTRPG, Board, Video, Other?!
On the one hand, I wish to siphon your energy to power my own creations, on the other hand, I want to enjoy your creations....
I guess I will continue my own small climb, and one day stand upon your shoulders.
In my opinion it is a time loop due to the demographics of playgroups and exposure. People don't play one ttrpg and instantly find and connect with the community. Most new players are younger and not hanging out in the spaces and circles that the previous generation used to discuss these things.
I really don't like the idea of phrasing it as pro-play or anti-play. It's pro-mechanism or anti-mechanism, but whether that is skipping the fun or skipping to the fun is very player/game dependent. Many anti-X activities preserve immersion, while game mechanics and failure can sometimes break it.
I find that the best solution is games where you are encouraged to play multiple times and combine the scores. Even when you lose every point still maters for the larger series. Many card games use this heavily.
Game length is an often important part of balance, and giving the ability for a player to shorten a match lowers the viability of long term play. Is losing 'garbage time' worth the potential loss of decision space?
It is a part of it for sure. Do you think games should end after a single person is eliminated? Do you think designing games with mechanics to allow someone to bow out or concede changes the game state and might reward different forms of suboptimal or unfun play?
I kind of wish there was more of an exploration on how to achieve such a thing in larger groups. Many games have such tight knit structure that removing a player or allowing one to concede would grant advantage or victory to someone who would not have won if the game was played out to completion.
Did sleep at least help you visualize it's scifi nova counterpoint?
The Age of Fire, when the Roulan Empire fell to civil war. They were terrible despots, but in their selfish cruelty razed the constellation as they tore themselves and their empire apart. The unleashed terrible weapons of destruction, and the Age of Darkness that followed was like a quiet reprieve.

I won't be playing Dnd, and will be avoiding things like it.
Happily a forever Gm but will share the seat if people want to swap!
It's a scream into the void, but I'm looking to GM for some new people this year. I have discord, Foundry, and a burning desire to get a new #ttrpg campaign or group going. I'm looking to build up a new network of people to play with online. So hit me up if you are interested.
Have you looked at Mobile Frame: Zero
A) how it allows uneven forces.
B) it's focus on objective control.
The way it's done the smaller team wins by basically just holding onto what little they have, while the larger groups are forced to aggressively take territory to win.
Shards would be neutral units perhaps wielded by both sides or just an obstacle.
Also, I want a hybrid units useable by two different factions representing the Dust books like fraying of the edges post post apocalypse.
If this is in your Nova scifi setting
Sparks - few and high powered.
Lunar Cult - Strong area control.
Corvus - Obvi the mobile faction
Hellions - Other mobile faction but more aoe and less specialized
Spore - Defensive and reactive
Zed - Aggressive but predictable,
Yes! Sorry for the slow response, was having dinner!
Happy to help or just bounce ideas off of if you need it.
Ahh, less than two hours till game time and we get hit with a twist! The sick child, a constant threat to the weekly #ttrpg. I wish them a quick recovery, while I quickly re-write the story and challenges to be down a person.
