I'm fairly certain that the history of independent comics from the view of the Image movement is just viscera built around the backbone of these three movements.
(3) Robert Kirkman's Walking Dead and Invincible are not possible without Savage Dragon. It's more obvious in Invincible, which exists alongside Savage Dragon, but both are heavily influenced.
(2) Savage Dragon feels like Erik Larsen made the same study of TMNT and just never wrote any filler. It's probably one of the greatest series in comics, and it's still running to this day.
