Currently fighting with save/load system. Im thinking the best way is to save the position of every structure and then replace them on load?
First time making a game with so much data to save ๐ง
CityPath Day 8 - Started building out a Tech Tree and gating structures and infrastructure behind it. Super janky UI for now but the code works

Not a lot of updates this week, did some refactoring to split out some classes that were getting a bit overloaded and then took a few days off to just chill and play some Cyberpunk ๐
Finally took the subway system which was actually really cool! I miss the days before *fast travel everywhere*
Building it all in unreal engine!
Day 6 of building CityPath - A City Planning Simulator.
Implemented a Destroy and Undo button - which forced me to create a selection and highlighting system. Feeling pretty good about having most of the basic components now!

Day 5 of CityPath - A City Planning Game!
Added some assets in to make it start to feel more like a game. Decided to implement "Eras" with you first starting in medieval times, just walking (horse maybe?) - Future eras to have vehicles for more complexity!

Day 4 of building CityPath - A City Planning Game!
Really went deep into pathfinding for my NPCs so they could eventually make it to their destinations. Now they will always try to get closer but if they hit a deadend they can backtrack woo!

I legit had no idea what a catty corner was and first thought it had something to do with felines lol ๐
Day 3 of building CityPath - my city planning simulator
We added NPCs! And they can follow a generated path (kind of). Currently experimenting with different methods of pathfinding for them.
Any suggestions??

Day 2 of CityPath - a city planning simulator where you try to build out the most efficient way of laying out your city and infrastructure for people to navigate.
Added a level system to progressively add more buildings as you continue
Here's Day 1 of CityPath - a city planning simulator where you try to build out the most efficient way of laying out your city and infrastructure for people to navigate.
We built out a grid structure, ability to place buildings, and NPCs that will move from homes to offices and back

Was talking with my friends and we got into a debate about the most efficient way to lay out a cities infrastructure for people to move around (bike lanes ftw!). But then I figured why not make a game out of it to see whose right
Lets see how far we can take this
Its amazing how fast you can go from thinking your idea is terrible to thinking its the best thing in the world with a little product validation ๐
