Congratulations!
Look out!
I wore them at work when I moved to a new, drafty office building in SF. Game changer.
I truly wish more people would read science fiction and not just watch big-budget adaptations. SF authors have thought about the ethics of the creator vs. the (technological) creation / created ever since Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein.
Knowing humans, perhaps long before then.
NEW: Believe it or not, itβs that time of year: the Wisconsin Supreme Court election is next month.
Liberals have a huge opportunity: if they win, they can lock down the majority of this court thru 2030.
That means theyβd have it in the next presidential race, a big democracy guardrail.

When the US govt terminated the National Nature Asst, @phillevin.bsky.social + the author team were determined not to let that stop them.
They re-organized, set up an advisory committee, found fundingβ¦and now the brand new Nature Record is open for public comment. ππ³ππ²
Check it out (link below)!

If you see this, post a crab! π¦π¦π¦
This is is at $1825/2100!!
$275 to go!
people not in Texas, letβs get ready to open our wallets to whatever grassroots orgs are helping voters navigate this fucking bullshit (media campaigns, carpools and transport, door knocking, whatever is needed)
this fuckery cannot stand
Congratulations!
transcript of a NYT podcast ad: This is A.G. Sulzberger. Iβm the publisher of The New York Times. I oversee our news operations and our business. But Iβm also a former reporter who has watched with a lot of alarm as our profession has shrunk and shrunk in recent years. Normally, in these ads, we talk about the importance of subscribing to the Times. Iβm here today with a different message. Iβm encouraging you to support any news organization thatβs dedicated to original reporting. If thatβs your local newspaper, terrific β local newspapers in particular need your support. If thatβs another national newspaper, thatβs great too.
the publisher of the new york times wants you to subscribe to the handbasket

It took me until my 40s to realize I can just nope out of a book if itβs not for me.
You only have a short time to comment. They are trying to destroy our forests to enrich a few logging company executives and the politicians theyβve paid off.

Oh and just remember - once youβve decided a minorityβs human rights are up for debate, youβve decided HUMAN RIGHTS ARE UP FOR DEBATE.
To everybody who framed all of this as βThe Trans Debate,β well done! Youβve opened the door to The Anybody Debate.
Even if you think you are in a state that has not done purges
Please check your voter registration regularly thos year, and tell everyone you know to check theirs, too.
The games are afoot.
I am going to link to organizations that I know for sure are helping trans Kansans. This thread will develop slowly as I either know people or will vet them.
At this point we have not heard from anyone being helped via relocation resources. These exist, but I assume they are overwhelmed.
I talked with @ziibiing.com about Stand With Minnesota, keeping neighbors housed during ICE escalation, and directing generosity where itβs actually needed.
the party that wants to require ID to vote abruptly invalidating a thousand peopleβs IDs overnight seems like a pretty giant flashing red light
I know itβs difficult right now, but I insist that you seek and enjoy beautiful things, even if it seems frivolous or irresponsible in the face of overwhelming horror. I want you to feed yourself artistically, spiritually, and literally, because you canβt Do The Work when youβre starving.
Dispatches from MN: it's getting really hard, guys. The media has left, the donations are drying up, and ICE is still here kidnapping people. It's hard not to be resentful that other people have the option of setting this aside for.other things.
A happy magic frog that says poof. You are now untired and very happy.
I CAST WHIMSY ON THE SKYLINE
Oh my goodness! There are so many adorable and beautiful things here. At very reasonable prices.
These relatively smaller funds are not getting the attention they need even though they are supporting tons of families.
I know we can pay every rent.
This is the SAVE Act that Trump is discussing tonight.
Want to hear amazing people sharing total nerdery to support mutual aid? This looks WOW brava to everyone involved.
Like the @posters-madness.bsky.social Mutual Aid Telethon!!
People's attention is drifting away, partly because ICE told everyone they were leaving (FYI: they're still here) and partly just because ... people get tired of stories and want to move on.
I get it. We're also, frankly, tired of this story. But it's not actually over here.
A stack of thin pink books that say OBSTETRIX * Naomi Kritzer on the spine.
HEY, I AM DOING ANOTHER FUNDRAISER FOR MINNESOTA RENT FUNDS! AND GIVING AWAY ANOTHER SIGNED ARC (Advance Review Copy) OF OBSTETRIX!!!
YOU COULD GET TO READ IT EARLY (it doesn't come out until June) AND HELP MINNESOTA FAMILIES STAY HOUSED!!!!
Silly. You need ID (not βvoter IDβ) to get on a plane. Not βproof of citizenship,β which is what the SAVE America Act requires.
