We know this is far from the only harm Donald Trump and his agencies have imposed against Minnesotans, including cuts to food security, childcare and healthcare for people living in every community. If ICE is in fact finally leaving Minnesota, that would be a welcome development, but it does not make us whole.

Another person is dead today because of ICE. They must leave Minnesota now. The federal government has lied to the people of Minnesota and to the people of the United States about Operation Metro Surge. It is a direct threat to the life and liberty of every member of our community and is only bringing chaos and violence. The agents who participated must be arrested and brought to justice in a transparent and thorough investigation. Congress must withhold further funding for ICE and use its oversight powers to immediately review the conduct of these federal agents who are showing a blatant disregard for not only constitutional rights, but human life itself. We share our deepest condolences to the victim and her family, and the entire community impacted by this violence. One thing is clear: ICE must be held accountable for their actions.
