Wait… do Reform think free schools are literally free? As in, no-cost?
Fabulous! Thank you! I was very impressed at it actually as I hadn’t thought about it myself.
@carolinepennock.bsky.social Hi Caroline, one my students had an interesting question this week regarding Mexica religious belief. Did they have any specific beliefs around a solar eclipse given that it could look like the sun wasn’t powerful? Sorry if it’s a very in depth question!
Probably my favourite thing this week: children writing that Hadrian’s Wall was the height of “3 Ms Quinns”. #historyteaching
🤦🏼♀️
My daughter is a foreign born citizen. I assume she’s included in Reform’s plans to stop “foreign born citizens” voting…except she’s white so I assume she gets a pass because she’s definitely not the sort of person he was talking about.
"Foreign-born Citizens" are actually just called citizens.
"Foreign-born voters" are just called voters
"non-citizen voters" (yes, this is a thing here in 🇬🇧) are just voters.
While everyone was busy talking about world war three, it occurred to me; should I be focussing on world war me?
Daily Mail @DailyMail on X: NIGEL FARAGE: Allowing non-British citizens to vote in the UK poses a grave risk to our democracy
Farage and the mainstream media are much graver risks to British democracy, constantly spouting nonsense and worse.
If any journalists out there look at the USA in horror and wonder how it got there, this is how.
I had a wonderful afternoon with my daughter exploring Newcastle castle. So much rich history. The view from the top is exceptional.
Leaving aside the fact this is Actual John Cleese, I think we need a neater term for boomers radicalised by Facebook.
Farage is playing right out of the Trump handbook. If we don’t universally reject these ‘stolen election’ narratives right away they’ll become a highly poisonous and normalised tool used to erode our democracy infront of our eyes.
As journalists working today many of us are taught to recognise disinformation when we see it and fight back against it.
Unfortunately there are some who willingly seek it out and put it on their front pages. A disgrace to the profession.

Friends in the UAE have told us about hearing explosions today. This is absolute madness.
"An absolutely extraordinary day in the UAE"
Sky News Correspondent Sally Lookwood reports from Dubai on Iran's attempted missile strikes on the UAE.
Quality me time as a working parent: Sitting in the car on my own during a load of hail, listening to a podcast. That’s after doing the shopping on my own. And I have a coffee. What a life.

Reform UK will pledge to restore Britain's Christian heritage by preventing churches being converted into mosques, enacting mass deportations of illegal migrants and persuading British expats to return to the country Zia Yusuf, the party's new home affairs spokesman, said renewing Britain's Christian faith was vital to tackle the "crisis of meaning culturally" among ,young people and men in particular. In an interview with The Times before his first speech on Monday setting out his plans to be home secretary, he said Christianity was "core to the history and the DNA of the country". However, he said Britain was losing its Christian values because of the "sheer quantities of people that came to the country in a short period of time"
Zia Yusuf is a practising Muslim. He's currently fasting because it's Ramadan.
And he tells The Times this.
Racial abuse is routine for any person of colour in Britain with any kind of profile. Literally nothing is being done about it.

This talk will examine how C17th perceptions of Stonehenge and the historic landscape were shaped by the upheavals of Reformation and Civil War.
Well worth a read
Also if anyone has any revision material/sample answers for AQA conflict and tension between east and west it would be much appreciated, and no I won’t be using AI thanks.
I don’t want to use AI because I am asking for expertise and experience from real people, which I value far more than any AI. I don’t get why people think it’s the solution to everything with everything we know about it already.
