I think Clause 4 would be a sign of being pretty influenced by Marx as well? And I agree with (another cliche line) that labour is more a party with socialists in it than a socialist party which i think you're getting at - but the comparison is to methodism. What would clause 4 for that even be?
On the flipside, can we point to anything actually methodist about it? Other than the fact that Keir Hardy was a methodist
Instead it's pretty much identical in it's trajectory, and a member of all the same international groupings, including still a being a member of the Socialist International
I guess you could put it this way - if it was true, wouldn't you expect the UK Labour Party to be pretty divergent in it's historical course from all the other major socialist and Labour parties around Europe in the 20th century?
