A black and white photo of a young Mary Beth Tinker wearing a black arm band sitting next to her mother.
57 years ago today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of students' right to protest the Vietnam War in our landmark case Tinker v. Des Moines.
The law is clear: Students don't hang up their free speech rights at the schoolhouse gate.

For a rocket ship like Rocco, space is one big playground, but like most playgrounds, not everyone plays by the rules. π
Another thing I love about Alysa is that her embracing joy, whimsy, artistry, authenticity and prioritizing having a healthy body and mind over aesthetic conformity and optimization blows a massive hole in much of the cultural messaging being pushed on women, esp young women, right now
Alysa Liu telling 60 Minutes βI love struggling, it makes me feel aliveβ is a legit revolutionary statement from a Bay Area native in a time when copious amounts of time and resources are being put toward convincing us to opt out of experiencing struggle, friction and self-actualization
A huge congratulations to Vermontβs very own Ben Ogden on winning two Olympic silver medals at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Games! He is now the most decorated U.S. male cross-country skier in Olympic history.
We are so proud of his achievements what heβs brought home for Team USA!
Iβm so excited to share the cover of my next #kidlit book! Thank you to Javier Perez and Catherine Laudone @simonkids.bsky.social π
American culture of the 1840βs would have been *very fucking surprised* to see the Irish considered as co-founders.
Elonβs an ahistorical dipshit, but its always worth saying some stuff out loud: if youβre a fellow Irish-American and you arenβt 100% pro-immigrant, youβre a fucking embarassment.
Black graphic with a quote attributed to Juana Rodriguez, ACLU client challenging an unlawful immigration raid in Wilder, Idaho: "My toddler was forced to witness an incredible amount of violence against people he loves and hear racial slurs about Latinos, experiences that no child should ever be exposed to. I'll never forget hearing his little voice pleading with me to give him food and water for hours on end."
As a proud U.S. citizen, Juana never thought she'd be zip-tied and detained by ICE for hours with her 3-year-old son, especially while attending a family-friendly event.
Theyβre two of hundreds of people weβre defending in court for being targeted in an unlawful militarized immigration raid.
A child dying of cancer spent her final days fighting to free her wrongfully detained father from ICE custody.

This comes just weeks after a mother from Maryland was denied the right to be at her sonβs side as he died from cancer.

Not one dime for this cruelty.

To all the Minnesotans who are making their voices heard and protesting peacefully:
The world is watching, and when change comes, it will be because of you.
Thousands of people filled the streets of downtown Minneapolis in protest of federal immigration enforcement for the second consecutive Friday.

Way to go, Philadelphia! The city has introduced new legislation putting real limits on ICE activity. Federal agents will no longer be allowed to operate anonymously no masks, visible identification required, and arrests must be backed by warrants signed by a federal judge.
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. Itβs dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Hereβs a podcast that does a good job of laying out whatβs at stake, and why all of us need to get off the sidelines to demand change.
More and more Americans are voicing their outrage at the tactics being deployed by federal agents in Minnesota. But itβs important to understand the broader implications of what this administration is doing, and the threat it poses to the basic freedoms of every American.
When Mamie Till was on the stand during the trial of her son's murderers in 1955, the defense argued she had misidentified her son's body, was lying in order to claim insurance money for her son, & had staged the whole affair with the aid of Communists & the NAACP. Tills murderers walked free.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.
Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.

Five years ago today, Donald Trump urged his supporters to attack Congress and the Capitol over a proven lie. More than 140 police officers were injured.
Trump then pardoned the attackers.
He betrayed his oath and his country, and we won't ever forget it.
