Corporate innovation, as best as I can tell, only happens when federal policy or extreme competition forces the quick depreciation of your existing capital stock and forces you to compete on quality. Hard to engineer this.

For starters, the startup ecosystem is maybe just not set up for it. They're overcapitalized on equity and have no good access to debt. Founders want quick exits--with high returns--for successful tech tests. But climate tech is just infrastructure, which is long-duration and medium-return.

So it's his legacy? I don't think he's really interested in legacy. He wants the accolades in real time because he won't be around to enjoy them when he is dead. Putin and Xi are somewhat different because they see themselves as the inheritors of great history - millennia-long [history] in the case of China. For Trump, it is just Trump. He completely trashes every other American leader - he doesn't have a good word for any of them.
