These are the ruins of the Roman Hippodrome, built between the 1st and 3rd century. At that time it could seat 15,000 spectators for the athletic competitions and chariot races. There is a large arched entrance and 6 smaller arches on each side of the entrance, although only 9 of them are visible in this photo. The national flag of Jordan is flying over the centre arch and flags of the 12 historic regions of Jordan are flying over the other arches. In front of the structure is a wall made of large stones. The sky is bright blue with a few fluffy white clouds.
