It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

GWβ€˜s student newspaper appears to have broken the story that the institution has sold a satellite campus to Amazon to be turned into a data center, which is just about chef’s kiss for the state of American higher education rn

rice is life, and I got a thread to share about rice: Park Chung-hee's obsession to make South Korea rice self-sufficient in the 1970s changed everything about the country, including your favorite Korean foods and the urban environment 🧡

My theory of the moment: The extraordinary courage of ordinary people in places like Minneapolis is reawakening us to our social and economic ties to immigrants. It's making "love thy neighbor" cool again. That's the ultimate antidote to MAGA hate.

Thoughts on this:

Prompt: What brand of food are best.

Prompt: What brand of food are best.

The "best" food brands are highly subjectiveβ€”they depend on what you're prioritizing: taste, quality ingredients, health/nutrition, value for money, sustainability, innovation, or just pure popularity/enjoyment.
There's no single universal ranking, but based on recent consumer data, taste tests, sales trends, and expert reviews (as of early 2026), here's a breakdown of standout brands across key categories.
Highly Popular & Well-Loved Everyday Brands (High Fame + Positive Opinion)
These consistently top U.S. consumer polls for broad appeal and positive sentiment (e.g., from YouGov-style rankings):

Heinz (especially ketchup) β€” Often seen as the gold standard for condiments.
M&M's, Kit Kat, Snickers, Hershey's β€” Dominant in chocolate/candy.
Lay's and Tostitos β€” Go-to for chips and snacks.

Hard to overstate how big a loss Rumeysa Ozturk’s case is for the Trump admin. Immigration court is an extension of the executive. It’s very hard for them to lose there.

Here she is being arrested by men in plainclothes. Over an op-ed. Still disturbs me.

β€˜Absolute hell’: Irishman with valid US work permit held by Ice since September Seamus Culleton has been in a detention facility in Texas for nearly five months despite having no criminal record

"He said he has been locked in the same large, cold and damp room for 4Β½ months with more than 70 men. He said detainees are constantly hungry because meals served at tables in the centre of the room offer only child-sized portions." www.irishtimes.com/world/us/202...

Companies and orgs never say this part out loud, weirdly. Absolut has been a loud & proud supporter of Pride for years and while some read that as support for the LGBTQIA+ community it almost certainly has more to do with dollars than values. Is woke just a fall guy for capitalism?
