WEATHER MAY CANCEL A RALLY.

WEATHER MAY CANCEL A RALLY. IT DOESN’T CANCEL THE HOUSING CRISIS! Due to severe weather, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone Sunday’s Build Public Housing Rally.

But let’s be clear:
🌧️ Bad weather pauses a protest.
🏠 It does NOT pause the housing crisis.

But let’s be clear: 🌧️ Bad weather pauses a protest. 🏠 It does NOT pause the housing crisis.

Right now:
• 13,700 South Australians are on the public housing wait-list
• Around 8,000 people are experiencing homelessness
• Rents have risen 52% since 2020
When weather forecasts require it, the government calls a “Code Blue.” But Code Blue is a band-aid.
During COVID, governments proved they can house people quickly when they choose to.
If we can house people in an emergency, we can build the 20,000 public homes needed to fix this crisis properly.

Power for its own sake, and no courage – Labor loses its way Having tasted long-term power, this Labor Party seems guided only by the possession of power as an end to itself.

Australia’s big climate win – stopping Korean coal mines One of the big announcements at last week’s UN climate talks in Brazil was that the South Korean Government has committed to phasing out coal-fired power by 2040.

Korean-owned coal mines were stopped in NSW by local groups.

Korea is now phasing out coal.

This is why stopping coal and gas projects in Australia is so important! IT WORKS!!

The Point Live: Labor and Greens to pass environment laws today, Nationals pretend to care about Barnaby Joyce's future Labor wants a political win and wants its environment legislation pushed through, even if it means sitting on Friday to do it, while the Nationals are pretending to care about Barnaby Joyce's potentia...

The EPBC Act changes are nowhere near perfect, but there have been some important improvements to the pretty shite original bill.

Good on the govt for negotiating with the Greens to deliver something not completely shit.

Maybe think on doing a bit more of that?

Shame Labor shame: New powers to cancel Centrelink payments before conviction pass the senate Welfare recipients have a right to be treated equally under the law, and should not be subject to punishment before having access to legal advice for any reason, ever.

Today @tanyaplibersekmp.bsky.social succeeded in establishing new powers to cancel Centrelink payments before conviction.

Thanks @senatorthorpe.bsky.social @andrewwilkiemp.bsky.social @davidpocock.bsky.social @pennyallmanpayne.com for trying to stop this dangerous law.
