Have you ever claimed to love a movie, and then rewatch it... for a podcast... all about loving movies that other people hate...
Anyway, I went on a journey for this one.

Good movie! Hear us talk about it!
Come for the Mick Jagger acting talk, stay to hear me insult Kyle Rayner!
...elves is who i am?
That's the worst thing I've ever heard you say, and I've heard you say nice things about Clint Barton and Danny Rand.
If you do, Iβm sorry.
Iβm sorry to everyone who watches this movie because of the show.
I was disappointed because Green Lantern has been my favorite superhero concept since I was 8 years old and I thought I was going to get to write an article about Ch'p or Driq or other weird GLs and the teaser gave my editors no reason to greenlight that.
But also, that is a perfect Hal scene.
I thought I knew what this movie was and I was so wrong.

For @denofgeek.bsky.social, I reviewed #knivesout #wakeupdeadman, I movie that left me with mixed feelings. As a Christian leftist, a lot of its themes resonated with me. But I'm just not sure that a Knives Out movie was the best place to present them: www.denofgeek.com/movies/wake-...
Among the many things that irritate me about Netflix hating theaters is its CEO's weird take that going to the theater is elitist. As someone who has never set foot in NYC and lived his entire life in fly-over country, I grouched about it for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/movies/netfl...
#fivenightsatfreddys2 has flat characters, a sloppy plot, and too many jump scares. The same is true of any Friday the 13th movie! It's fine as a gateway movie for kids getting into trashy horror. My (relatively) positive review for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/movies/five-...
The movie poster for Maria Leonora Teresa.
NEW EPISODE:
Against their better judgment, Joe (@joewriteswords.bsky.social) and Kirstie (@kirstenhoward.bsky.social) go international to discuss the Filipino killer doll movie Maria Leonora Teresa on the Good Bad Movie Show!

I really, really hated #wickedforgood, particularly because of its open love of authoritarianism, which I wrote about for @denofgeek.bsky.social:
www.denofgeek.com/movies/the-w...
Wicked: For Good: I don't remember the last time I saw a non-superhero, big Hollywood blockbuster that hates the people and loves authoritarianism this much. And at least superhero movies pretend to question their strong men, instead of giving fascist collaborators sympathetic musical numbers.
I liked Edgar Wrightβs #therunningman but apparently I have a TOTALLY different read on the ending than everyone else. My review for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/movies/the-r...
A little girl and spooky clown doll from Ghosthouse (1988)
NEW EPISODE!
Spooky season may be over, but Joe (@joewriteswords.bsky.social) and Kirstie (@kirstenhoward.bsky.social) are always up for getting scared, this time with the Umberto Lenzi #polgergeist riff and maybe #evildead sequel, #ghosthouse!

For @denofgeek.bsky.social, I reviewed #frankenstein, Guillermo del Toro's (mostly pretty good!) retelling of the classic horror tale: www.denofgeek.com/movies/frank...
At this point, offing a kid in a movie isn't the big shock filmmakers seem to think it is, as I get cranky about for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/movies/it-we...
As a Spooky Season treat, we're sharing our Patreon episode on #halloweenends, a movie that both @kirstenhoward.bsky.social and @joewriteswords.bsky.social love! Join in their celebration of the latest last battle between Laurie and Michael!

I really liked #theblackphone2, and not just because it has a 77s song over the credits (but also because it has a 77s song over the credits). My review for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/movies/black...
I was not expecting to hear THE SEVENTY SEVENS (!!!) over the credits of a horror movie in the year 2025!
(the rest of #theblackphone2 is pretty darn good too. full review coming this week at den of geek)
Keaton's passing gave me reason to revisit her infamous episode of #twinpeaks. The story still really stinks, but a) none of that was her fault and b) she really directs it well. So I wrote about it for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/tv/diane-kea...
Still want more after the #peacemaker finale? Check out this list of comics about the man who loves peace so much, he'll kill for it (for Men's Health Magazine): www.menshealth.com/entertainmen...
I really liked the end of #peacemaker and I wrote about it for @denofgeek.bsky.social: www.denofgeek.com/tv/peacemake...
Vincent D'Onofrio in The Thirteenth Floor.
NEW EPISODE!
Kirstie (@kirstenhoward.bsky.social) and Joe (@joewriteswords.bsky.social) hop in the virtual elevator for the other reality bending sci-fi movie from 1999, #thethirteenthfloor!

I was going to add that Manhattan and/or remake need to be at the bottom, but clearly we differ there.
Oh, thatβs a good list! I feel like everyone has their pet New Line to put in the top three. My editor was really pushing for Freddy v Jason at number three.
I did catch Part III in 3D this past weekend, which is a much better experience, but it wasn't enough for me to bump it up to the second half of the list.
