Previously an item under a certain value to a private citizen was not subdued to the tariff. Starting in May everything no matter the value is hit with that 79% increase.

It's quite true that it is a whole lot easier to maintain. If one breaks down, pop it out and put a new one in.
One big issue with most interlocking bricks is that they are quite susceptible to damage from salt, so other means would be needed for colder climates to keep ice down.

As someone who has laid literally hundreds of tonnes of interlocking brick over the last 10 years, I agree with this for the most part.
A well oiled crew of just a few people can lay a whole lot of brick really fast and accurately.
