I love how many old wood water towers are scattered throughout Sonoma County. My first home on my own at 19 was one of these converted into an apartment. They were used as water towers between the 1850s and 1930s.

Thank you๐
I'm obsessed with lichens! And moss and fungi. All of it.
Shot on Cinestill 400D pushed to 1600, on Pentax 67 medium format camera.
My friend with her boy just before he passed from kidney failure. She asked me to do a portrait knowing he was not going to live much longer. He was her soul cat ๐
I'm glad I captured such a happy moment with them, rather than the feeling of impending doom. The memory of love.

๐๐คฃ we're getting lost in translation here. I wish I could edit! I didn't even proofread ๐คฆโโ๏ธ nevertheless it's a lovely word.
I typoed it should be Fernweh. Of course you can't edit posts on here. I just looked it up I don't see Wernweh but I see Fernweh. Didn't know wanderlust is also used!
I was a caretaker for naked mole rats in a laboratory
Green rolling hills with bare winter vineyards and fog draping over them
Fenweh is the German word for wanderlust, and possibly the most beautiful word in the language. My dad's side of the family is from Germany, I grew up listening to my grandparents speak it. It often sounds harsh and sharp, but the word Fenweh is so simple yet mystical.

Sorry I'm late, it was foggy out and I needed to wander.
Another shot from my first roll of Cinestill 400D.

Haha! Cats are creatures of consent. People who like control don't like a creature who won't allow it.
Push it to 3200!
Yes Cinestill is just Kodak movie film with the rem jet layer removed. Same with Cinestill 800T except it is tungsten balanced and particularly good with pushing. I highly recommend trying it out for urban night photography, though I've had a lot of fun with it in daylight as well.
Shot my first roll of Cinestill 400D. I'll post a few sporadically. So far, I like it. But not nearly as much as 800T and not enough to replace Portra for a daylight film. Anyone tried it?

I'm glad all the very sophisticated scientists I make marketing campaigns for can't see me while I'm working. Stoned af, half dressed with a cat in my lap. And you know what? I fucking kill it. Freelance life guys, do it.

The song of the Red Winged Blackbird is one of my favorites. I grew up in a mobile home park with a creek behind it (yes I'm a little bit trailer trash) so it's pure nostalgia and peace for me to hear them just as I did so often as a child playing at that creek.

Very excited to be digging into this on this rainy day. Have you read it?

Beautiful shot
Things that are less parasitic than ICE, part 1. Barnacles! Most people think barnacles parasiticize the organisms they cling to, however they are mostly harmless unless the host is already sick or immune compromised. They also provide microhabitats for smaller organisms and filter water. #nature
I can't believe Willow is already 8 years old. She's a shepherd pit mix of absolute perfection. So far she's as active and healthy as she's always been, and I hope we have years of adventures together still to come.
I've long been a photographer of both nature and urban life. I now work in graphic design and have recently become certified as a California Naturalist. I'll be studying botany starting in the fall and hope to work in ecology or conservation in the future. Follow along to learn with me! #botany
Allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Vanessa, and this is my best nature adventure companion, Willow. This is us standing beneath a massive California Bay Tree we found today. I'm an artist, Naturalist, gardener, and occasional wordsmith. Cont'd

A cluster of California Mussels crowded together on a rock close up with variations of brown, blue and black shells.
Mussels, one of the ocean's filters. They absorb excess nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorous, while providing a crucial food source for many marine species. An abundance of mussels is a good indicator of clean water and a healthy marine ecosystem. This is in Bodega Bay.
