I've always found Raccoon City emblematic of what a country and it's government is willing to do to it's own people to cover up it's crimes. This has been a constant in the Resident Evil series since its inception with the US govt being the explicit backers of bioterrosim and unethical testing.

To this day I viscerally remember the feeling of standing in the electronics section at Sam's Club and beating the first boss in Sonic 2, and the absolute _delight_ that gave me. It was like nothing else and I can't tell you how I wish I could get that back.
