Analysis by @generationsfutures.fr shows that 49 synthetic #pesticides would receive unlimited approval if the Commission’s omnibus proposal enters into force on 1 January 2027. The list includes toxic & widely used substances such as #glyphosate & acetamiprid.

We do encourage people to eat fruit, but they have the right to healthy food, not contaminated food. This report contains recommendations for citizens to better protect themselves and for decision makers on legislative & agronomic tools to reduce pesticides.

Our findings show that over 90% of the tested European conventional apples could not be fed to babies if they were processed food. Parents are usually not aware that pesticide residue limits for processed baby food are much stricter than those for fresh products.

Most individual pesticide residues remain within the current maximum residue limit (MRL). But still, the findings are highly concerning. A diversity of substances was found, and a majority of apples contain a cocktail of pesticides.

Apple production is one of the biggest consumers of pesticides. On average, apples are sprayed 30 times before reaching the shop. Apples represent an important source of pesticide exposure for consumers.

We analysed #pesticide residues in apples in 13 European countries. The result: conventional apples are contaminated with a cocktail of pesticides (85%). It shows that the current pesticide authorisation needs to be improved, not demolished.

On 5 January 2026, France suspended imports of food containing residues of five #pesticides banned in the EU due to serious health effects. Now the EU must follow.
