Molly Ingersoll: advocating for women's health and women's rights
Molly Ingersoll has been head of a research team at the Institut Pasteur in Paris since 2012. This unfailingly optimistic microbiologist and immunologist is committed to revolutionizing our approach t...
Meet Molly Ingersoll, microbiologist & immunologist.
Her work shows how women and men can respond very differently to infections, and why sex-specific treatments are urgently needed.
She also speaks up about the invisible hurdles women face in science.

➡️ preprint from the lab! Bacteria have loads of antiviral defences in their mobile genetic elements (MGEs). So when MGEs move between bacteria, the defences move with them, generating a fast turnover of defences in bacteria. But what about the antiviral defence turnover in the MGEs themselves? 🤔

A novel version of diphtOscan is available at gitlab.pasteur.fr/BEBP/diphtos.... v2.2.0 makes it easy to install on local computers. diphtOscan scans genomes and extracts information including #diphtheria toxin and antimicrobial resistance genes, biovar, species and subtyping information.

Wikipedia is needed now more than ever, 25 years on
The online encyclopedia is an antidote to an increasingly poisoned information ecosystem. Researchers should help to nourish it.
I couldn’t agree more! Help support Wikipedia.
It has been a pillar of high-quality knowledge sharing since the early web, and it’s more relevant than ever in the fuzzy age of AI

By analysing 336 KpSC genomes from human, animal, and environmental sources, we reveal strong population compartmentalisation. Environmental sublineages (farms) are highly diverse and persistent, while human-associated strains (clinical and WWTP) show fast turnover and multidrug resistance profiles.

I’m really happy to share this work, which wouldn’t have been possible without the contributions of many, especially @sylvainbrisse.bsky.social and @crodrigues87.bsky.social from @pasteur.fr, and Elodie Barbier and Pascal Piveteau from @inrae-france.bsky.social.

The wide adoption of cgMLST LIN code strain taxonomies has the potential to result in a universal approach for standardized bacterial genotyping that could greatly enhance microbial biodiversity studies, international genomic epidemiology and infectious disease surveillance

Data confidentiality is an important barrier to rapid response to outbreaks. As LIN codes are sufficient to define strain identity across countries, they provide a solution for cross-border collaborative genomic surveillance investigations, without the need to share genomic sequences themselves
