There are things everyone knows and no one will say.

History haunts the present, unresolved violence haunts the future.

Keefe's "Say Nothing" might be the single essential book on The Troubles

To quote Dick Valentine "The entire band votes for Bush.

Likely worse

It's an interesting proposition. We desperately need better ideas, and a policy/tech world that can implement novel ideas in an experimental manner without breaking the material foundations we live on.

But this book ain't it, chief. Hope you can read good to clear your mind.

"Everyone else can be up-wing. They can be up in the air, scattering crazy, high-tech, birdbrained ideas, and the ones that fall to me ground without shattering, those will belong to me."

In all this gibberish, I want to point out that a better positioning of up-wing vs downwing politics is from Bruce Sterling's Distraction, where at the end the President declares that "I'm down-wing. I have my feet on the ground, and I know where I stand."

Having finished DS9 ages ago, I'm watching TNG.

This show is much less daddish, but Data declaring he is ready to be a parent provokes the Picard double face palm

They're both looking sexy and weird and right at the camera. She has a lot of red curly hair
