85 years ago today, on August 20th 1940, exiled Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky was attacked with an ice axe in Mexico City by a Soviet agent. Trotsky, a key figure in the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution had lived in exile after being expelled from the USSR. He succumbed to his injuries the next day.
