We've freed Cookie's Bustle from copyright hell. Here's how. | Video Game History Foundation We've stopped a persistent copyright troll who was trying to impede our work. Here's everything we learnedβ€”and how we beat them.

I've been following the story of Cookie's Bustle since about 2022, when Classics of Game videos featuring the quirky adventure game were taken down. It's gratifying to see the Video Game History Foundation take on the copyright troll who took down that content. gamehistory.org/cookies-bust...

I had this as a kid, and I still don't know how to enter Murderworld. If you told me it was an art game about not getting into Murderworld, I would believe it.

In a couple of 19th century stories about his wife, his wife's mom calls him "Eddie."

Consider Phlebas is close-ish - a shape shifting agent hired by a militarist warmonger empire tries to pull off the recovery of an invaluable enemy asset. The empire is on track to lose the war it's in, and what he's trying to do gets harder and harder.

The closest I can think of that trope being true is letting kids who got to school early go to the school library. That *might* have been a thing, but I was always a bus rider and only had time to go to class.

"I included the sycamore."
"Yes, yes, you did, and the action to stand there is quite fun. But did the hill have to be on the back of a giant a few miles tall, terrorizing the abbey?"
"Yes, of course."

I find students fixate on the three things without working out what connects them. Tell me about the cake, not the ingredients. Tell me a story about a weird thing you noticed, not the three formal elements you'll move through to briefly mention that weird thing somewhere in the telling.

A barber once asked me that. I had no idea there *was* a "toward"/"towards" difference. He seemed very surprised I didn't know. Afterward, I looked that up and found there wasn't a difference after all, except maybe region of preference ("toward" ~ American, "towards" ~ British). I'd been duped!

There is a post circulating on Bluesky encouraging the moving of a frozen turkey straight into a pot of hot oil. We are combating this misinformation the best way we know how - through the power of dance music.

Yes - unless you put it to *use*! Most of my boxes are gone, but my Switch box has a PS2 in it (FITS SURPRISINGLY WELL), and for the moment the Switch 2 box has a Switch in it, though I'll probably toss the box once I regift the Switch.

I love anime girls with magical orbs in video games. They used to be really prevalent in the late 80s to mid 90s. You know, those solid, spherical objects, often floating in the air. Here's just a small collection of such girls (I'll leave out obvious fortune tellers):
