Yup, in Portugal Nintendo was mostly a handheld thing up until the Wii. Sega was mostly dominant in the home console market until PlayStation came along and turned it into Sonyland. I haven't played a single Zelda game and the only Mario I've played is Super Mario Bros. for like 1 hour.

They do go deeper and contextualize and comment on the work with their own experiences and philosophical/theological knowledge of the works that inspired the games, so I wouldn't reduce them to just recapping or adding trivia, but it doesn't fit the bill for what you're looking for for sure.
I really enjoy @resonantarc.bsky.social as long form exploration of the themes, character, narrative, and broader philosophy of games. Not so much a media analysis or a critical discussion though.

I love this game to death. The ending made me bawl. Shame it takes so long to get going and to get through it, don't know if I'll ever find the time and will to replay it. Somehow it makes the original experience even more magical.
