Itβs so gross

Itβs so gross
Israeli map showing all of southern Lebanon in red with yellow arrows pointing to north of the Litani river
The IDF just ordered the *entirety of south Lebanon* to be forcibly displaced.
They are emptying the land of its population, creating a massive crisis, and will now proceed to further annihilate large parts of Lebanon.
The very nation state of Lebanon is being destroyed.
Abominable reporting from NYT on this in their βlive updatesβ on Iran.
βstill investigating whether it was a U.S. airstrikeβ
βmost of whom were likely childrenβ
Noncommittal, uninformative, and vile. There was already a funeral for the GIRLS MURDERED IN THIS STRIKE, and the NYT is just NYT-ing
Thank you ππ½ so far okay
I hope so. Thinking of you all. (Half my family is there, many with their young kidsβ¦a living nightmare)
Hope your loved ones are okay ππ½
Saudi analyst Sulaiman Al Oqeily is more forthcoming about Gulf Statesβ indignation with US lack of interest in fulfilling its security guarantees towards the region, because theyβre focused on protecting Israel.
Anger expressed against Iran is largely rhetorical. The biggest failure is defence.
If youβre a media outlet / podcast and need an explainer on whatβs going on Iβm happy to do so.

555 people have been killed in US and Israeli attacks across #Iran, the country's Red Crescent Society said.
100,000+ paramedics are responding to attacks that have so far impacted 131 of Iran's 491 counties, said the society - part of global network of national Red Cross/Red Crescent societies.
Screenshot of a headline and video that shows explosions in a cityscape at night. The headline reads βIsrael strikes Beirut, prompting residents to fleeβ
The BBC is using the active voice now.
Israel strikes Beirut. Many roads gridlocked with people trying to flee. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/m...
I didnβt realise you were using a translation app ππ½ I should be more clear. My reply above said that I thought the diplomatic talks were going well. But the US initiated a war anyway, so I agree it certainly feels like a distraction!

No child is my enemy.
Those killed in Iran, Gaza, Cuba. Those killed by measles. Trans and queer kids killed by bigotry. Those killed by police and tortured by ICE.
I'll never be able to have kids, but my heart aches for them and their families.
Especially given that, unless my reading comprehension is totally off, talks were going well, it smacks of distraction? Yet more people have to suffer and die in addition to those already harmed by those crimes
Itβs the absolute bare minimum I can do. I feel lost. Also writing to MP, not sure what else to do at this point and open to ideas
βEvery child lost is someoneβs whole world.β
We may not have unchecked power, but we still have power bsky.app/profile/chan...
Definitely not about the people. We have seen this before in Iraq. Itβs always about resources and control. For Iraq, at least American leadership bothered to use propaganda to confuse its population into supporting a war
Whatever the context, this is an eternal and undeniable truth:
I just donβt understand anymore
There is death and wanton violence everywhere we look, there is unimaginable loss and fear, all thanks to a handful of men at the helm who have never had to answer for a single wrong.
The mass murder of civilians in Gaza, the brazen attacks on hospitals and schools, without any accountability has created a new kind of warfare that should terrify and enrage all of us.
Every child lost is someoneβs whole world. Every life lost matters www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
That + 6 accounts on polymarket made around $1 million in profit by betting on the US to strike Iran by Feb. 28. Accounts were all freshly created in Feb and had only ever placed bets on this

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
I know this feels pointless but everyone has to call their congressional reps and say they oppose war with Iran and they oppose Trump illegally starting one without congressional approval β both
5 Calls can help you make the call:

Israel bombed 170 elementary school girlsβ¦ What is there to even sayβ¦
(depressingly) well said ππ½
The US and Israel are bombing Iran. Anyone reporting it as βpreventiveβ is engaging in propaganda, by definition. There is no interpretation of whatβs happening as anything else than a crime.
You donβt have to like the Iranian regime to understand why this is bad.
