Happy Barkley Marathons day to all who celebrate π
Ran my 10th half marathon yesterday ππ»ββοΈ #ChemistsWhoRun
Yβall I hate time change, it feels like Iβm watching the sunset while I eat my late lunch
Got my email down to 22 unread π (apologies to those 22 people π)
Unfortunately I do love using parentheses to share my bonus thoughts in every sentence
A glimpse into the ADHD experience:
Yesterday I was so productive that I completed the workload of at least 3 people in 5 hours. And today, the only thing Iβve done so far is accidentally brew my coffee onto the floor.
BOTH OF THOSE HUMANS LIVE INSIDE ME. And I never know which version I get.π
The absolute emotional turmoil I go through in this job should be studied.
Today, Iβm letting the act of gentle progress feel like enough. Breaks are productive, and I do not owe anyone an instant reply. Thereβs a world beyond my to-do list, and I get the opportunity to live in it. π©΅
Anxiety: Get ready
Me: For what?
Anxiety: Idk just hurry

5 invited seminars in 25 days π π΄ #TenureTour #Academia
That 2:30pm slump gets me every single day, this neurodivergent brain just wasnβt built for 9-5
If you teach undergraduate Instrumental Analysis in chemistry programs of study for Fall 2025 / Spring 2026 - we would love to work with you to collect survey data from your enrolled students! Please message me if youβre willing to help by sending your students a pre/post survey.
Having an educational experience / career youβre proud of doesnβt mean you havenβt been forced to mask your way through it. π¬ Most academic spaces were, unfortunately, not intentionally designed with us in mind.

Did not open my laptop for 10 business days (much needed). Seriously considering deleting all my unread email and starting fresh lol. So, if you need me, maybe email me again? π
Here as a burned out ADHD girlie in solidarity ππ»ββοΈπ
Yes! But the woman who gave the talk was Dr. Audrey Cameron - she developed the British Sign Language Glossary for chemistry/STEM!
I really wish you could put βout of officeβ images on Teams because -
Can you imagine if you tried to Teams chat me and got this image as a response?

PHOTO DROP from the 2025 CERP GRC!
I feel so excited for whatβs to come in our field. Iβm intellectually overwhelmed in the best way possible, and Iβm so happy I got to connect again with #CER friends and meet so many new people this year. My heart is absolutely full.
Our research group had a busy June, sending these two off into PhD Land! So proud of you, David Hamilton and Jennifer England. Thank you for letting me be a small part of your journey, and for allowing me to grow and learn with you.

Introducing Dr. Jennifer England, our most recent PhD graduate! Incredibly proud of you and excited for your Fall semester ahead at the University of Northern Colorado π
#CER #ChemistryEducationResearch
Congratulations to our newest PhD recipient, Dr. David Hamilton! Endlessly proud of you.

Tomorrow is Global Running Day, so naturally my run club is doing a 24-Hour Relay to celebrate. Knocked out the 8pm segment.ππ»ββοΈπ #ChemistsWhoRun

π¨π¨ Friday night news drop from National Science Foundation!! π§ͺ
NSF just released its detailed budget request for next year: nsf-gov-resources.nsf.gov/files/00-NSF...
We knew it was going to be bad...and it lives up. Guts direct NSF support for a **quarter million people**
𧡠on some highlights...
happy NSF Friday to all who are in therapy about it
Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3

This is so fucked up. Sorry thatβs the academic description for it. They are really dismantling everything
NSF officials announced they are essentially abandoning the use of βrotatorsββ scientists on leave from academic positions who help the agency choose the best research to fund. NSF also plans to reduce the number of administrators classified as senior executive service employees. scim.ag/3EKnxmc
