Yeah, just visually he doesn’t look like a SS. Just speaks to his athleticism that he still has believers, not just for now, but for the next few years.

Level has some believers in his ability to stick at SS for awhile longer. Makes all the plays and has a great arm, probably avg range though. Kilen, I don’t see a SS there.

Not until they share a roster together. At that point I think we’ll see Hernandez moving to 2B/3B. As you know Gonzalez is a generational defender at SS, I don’t see him playing anywhere else.

My guess is that they’ll keep Gonzalez and Hernandez a level apart to maximize reps at SS. Gonzalez absolutely needs to play SS everyday he’s in the lineup. Hernandez, I don’t think sticks there, but way too early for him to not get every rep at SS.

Doesn’t seem like it would be something the Giants would do, but it wouldn’t be unheard of (SD put De Vries in A ball for pro debut) and Hernandez has the maturity and ability to survive.

Elder has thrown SP innings but there is a reason why he was 7th or 8th on their depth chart heading into spring. He has been awful

I’ve liked a Luis Matos for Bryce Elder swap all offseason. Maybe Atlanta sees a need for an OF bat. FG depth chart lists Eli White, Jorge Mateo, and Brett Wisely as their OF bench. But Elder is now slotted at 5 due to the SP injuries, so maybe not.

Honeywell is the only pitcher around these days to throw the screwball with any real volume in the majors.

They certainly talk about it in cricket. Hawkeye replay in that sport has an umpire’s call built in when it’s in their determination of margin of error. With baseball ABS rules, this would have been declared out. www.reddit.com/r/cricketwor...

What level of preciseness exists for Hawkeye zones? It is just hard to believe it’s <0.1” precise.

For A. Agreed if Encarnacion is a notably better bat than Schmitt. Projections for 2026 don’t show much of a gap, if anything Schmitt has a better floor among them.

B. Sure, but this team struggled to maximize value at the edges last year and this one scenario is them tying themselves up again.

Just the optics of how dumb it would look to start Arraez at 2B and DH Schmitt makes me think Eldridge will be on the opening day roster. I know those were the odds anyways.

This is probably why you don’t make promises like this. It makes zero sense for Arraez to be at 2B and then DH-ing Schmitt or Encarnacion. With Eldridge at DH at least you can kind of see the value play.

There’s no way Hawkeye is this precise. Cricket, which has been using Hawkeye for replays for years, has an umpire’s call because there is no belief in its extreme preciseness. It’s crazy that they’re overturning calls for misses like this.

Let’s assume Eldridge starts the year in AAA or is injured. Will the Giants put Arraez at DH or will he continue to play at 2B?
