I will never not be a little bitter and sad for how this all went down. I only had the pleasure of working on this title for five weeks before the studio was (incredibly unexpectedly, by all accounts) shut down.

In the end it ended up being a fun platform to work with. I’m hoping to get to test on a physical device myself soon (🤞Christmas), I genuinely think the platform’s simplicity and limitations make it a very fun development target.
Genuinely surprised at how little time it took (half a day or so?) to get a functional Tetris clone working. To be fair, I’ve built Tetris in other environments/languages a couple of times, so this was more about sussing out the differences in building for this platform.
Messed around with #Playdate recently, hoping to get a physical device to test on soon! Wrote a Tetris clone (not to be released, just for instructional purposes) using C for collision detection and some particle effects and Lua for the input and game flow. Was an absolute joy to work with.
What studios put QA in special thanks so I know to avoid working with them? That’s incredibly insulting for a group that is instrumental in shipping basically anything these days.
Wow, this is one I can’t believe I missed and will now be annoyingly shared every time I help someone fix crashes for the rest of my career. You have changed many lives today with this share 😂
Equally excited and TERRIFIED to finally do this.
Games journalism is in a rough state, so we've decided to get involved to highlight games that we think pave a positive future for the industry.
And we named the outlet the best/dumbest thing possible.

A goose, it says "I think I will cause problems on purpose."

Bigger number better, that’s why the 1/4 pounder is bigger than the 1/3 pounder right?
Yeah! I did play this and Dragon Warrior/Quest earlier on, but it was at a friend’s place so I never (back then) got the chance to really dig into it. FF7 was the first one I owned at home and got to finish!
Wait does this mean you have a new book coming out?! Excellent!
It starts, “Hey guys, in this short tutorial we are going to learn how to build your full HUD all in blueprint!”, and it’s 3 hours of connecting pins to nodes 😅
Okay not my *first* but definitely the first that truly engaged me. FF7 started something that has never stopped since in me, a love of character-focused, narrative-heavy games that don’t pull punches!
OH oops sorry, thank you! 😅
I’m a Seattle-based AAA game dev! Add me!
I’m a dev that uses Unreal Engine and used to post about it occasionally on the old platform and plan to here! Add me please 😃
Finishing a set of levels in Tetris Effect Connected is so weird— it’s all groovy and vibes, and then it’s like “WELCOME BACK YOU GOT A C”. I thought we were vibing, game, why you gotta throw shade at my performance so fast?
How was it??
