If you want to support a museum and get a pretty cool book, I recommend this book illustrated by @joschuaknuppe.bsky.social. Lots of really good info, I just hope that it’s easier for people to get their hands on relatively soon.

Result from the Koobi Fora #paleostream! This region on the east side of modern day Lake Turkana in Kenya is a treasure trove for fossils of the early Pleistocene and is most famous for many early human remains, with up to 6 species present throughout the layers...

As the #YearoftheHorse begins, I will share an overview of my recent journey through reconstructing prehistoric horses. For such an important, beloved, and fascinating lineage, there isn't an abundance of paleoart of them (and very little that diverges from established tropes)🧡. #paleoart #sciart

Finally had time to look over this paper since I just finished writing the article for it on Wikipedia. It and the environment it lived in are super cool and I recommend looking into them if you have the time!

And here the result of the MOTH locality #paleostream!
This incredible site from the early Devonian of Canada preserves an alien fish fauna drawn by preschoolers. As with other pieces from this series we can't actually show where these animals were preserved. The anoxic...

Those guys look like otters but they’re actually some of our earliest seals! When they were originally found, they also thought they were otters.

Vector illustration of a pair of Qilin tungurensis, a middle Miocene giraffe, laying next to eachother. The male on the right is larger than the female, with tall, curved ossicones on its head, while the female lacks ossicones. They are both dark brown in color, with light grey around their faces. A spider web like pattern of white and grey on thier undersides forms the giraffe's characteristic spots. Text reads: Qilin tungurensis. Xiaoming Wang, Nikos Solounias, Su-kuan Hou, Lu Li and Yukimitsu Tomida. It was really fun working on the size chart for this piece, so many Bannikov publications. I knew he did a lot for the eastern Paratethys but I had no clue how influential he is in Bolca.

Haven't been as active art-wise since a lot of my time has been going into wikipedia editing since almost nobody else does ray-finned fish and early eocene mammal groups. Though some of these were done last year, most of them are from throughout 2025.

That's something that I realized while drawing it, definitely took some inspiration from takins for the basic color concept. Big fan of the fact that the closest relative of takins may be Myotragus based on some papers looking at the DNA of caprines.

Just barely making it for September’s #NearbyNature2025, here’s the Mexican Long-nosed Armadillo. Formerly known as a northern subspecies of the recently-split Nine-banded Armadillo, this is the only Xenarthran native to Alabama today. They are mostly nocturnal insectivores. #wildlife #alabama
