We fundamentally disagree here. I believe that Spotify doesnβt distribute enough of its revenue, that it shouldnβt offer preferential treatment to major labels, and that the things Spotify invests in are a net-negative to music and artists.

Iβm aware thatβs Spotifyβs argument. By the same logic, would you say part of the reason youβre βable to pay out moreβ is that the company has demonetised 80% of songs? Wouldnβt Spotify be able to pay out more still if it didnβt continue to invest in AI and offer favourable pay outs to major labels?

Itβs always been snide but any artist who participates in it this year is a snake.
Itβd be worthwhile if bands and labels took a simple stand and made a point of not participating in it this year.
Spotify have already started soliciting free content from bands in the form of βSpotify 2025 Wrappedβ thank you vids.
Not all bands can afford to remove their music from Spotify while it dominates the market, but EVERY band can easily opt out of playing their silly games.
