Demanding that women be defined by our biology isn't a win for feminism.
The people driving this are not acting in the interests of women. They're taking us all backwards and ushering in the far right.
Ellie Tomsett, Nathalie Weidhase and Poppy Wilde, eds, Working Women on Screen: Paid Labour and Fourth Wave Feminism (Palgrave Macmillan, 2024) Panel comments: "This is a collection of important, well-organized, timely research that contributes to several of the most important themes in film, TV and screen studies today. The judges would like to acknowledge, in addition to the excellent essays throughout, the important contribution made to our disciplines by the editors' generous and meticulously researched introductory chapter."

I loved investigating the challenges of BSL interpreting for live comedy, theatre and music for Time Out. From tricky and frozen language (imagine signing Shakespeare) and timing punchlines to post-MeToo agency, it’s a fascinating area.
