First #144MHz #UKAC Iβve done in a while. A nice clear evening at the portable site. Band conditions seemed about average. #VHF #hamr #hamradio

145 Alive activity periods in 2026... ei7gl.blogspot.com/2026/01/145-...
Mine was a a Nokia 8310. Great phone and tiny. Still works today. My Dad now carries it as a backup when out hiking. The battery has been replaced and it still works perfectly at 20+ years old. I got it on contract from Orange. From memory it was Β£30/month for the phone and 200 minutes/500 texts.
Good luck. I decided to give it a miss. Bucketing it down here.
Hi Gareth, yes, can work him just about 100% of the time from where I operate. 266m asl, overlooking the north sea makes for a good path π
Yes, it was Peter. CW got the job done. Saying that by the end of the QSO Barry was up to 559, so I reckon we could have made it on SSB.
I notice every edition of RadCom going back to January 2000 is available. Will make for a good trip down memory lane.
Well done Gareth. The good conditions didnβt seem to make it up as far as me in IO94. Still a nice evening though.
My eyesight isnβt the best these days, so being able to zoom in is a plus for me. I read that little in paper format, that I find myself trying to zoom in on that as well π
Ah excellent π Iβve been reading RadCom on the RSGB website for ages, but the app seems way less clunky on my iPad. If you arenβt bothered about a paper copy you can save a few quid on membership.
A nice warm evening for the #144MHz #UKAC last night. Felt like summer at the portable site. A lot of people reporting enhanced conditions, but they seemed about average where I was unfortunately. My first contest since August, so great to be out again π #hamr #hamradio

Will be out tomorrow /P on 4m. Testing an amp so will hopefully have power and gain. Anyone QRV?
Nice to be out for the #144MHz #UKAC last night. Quite breezy at the portable site. Conditions about average I'd say. #hamr #hamradio
We have our annual hamfest thing on August 10th. It's a nice day out in Dorset. There will be tea and bsicuits. www.frars.co.uk
Went out portable on Saturday to give a few points away in the #VHFNFD contest. Just did #144MHz (left) and #50MHz (right). Activity seemed quite low, although I was only on for a few hours. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon. #hamr #hamradio
Nice to be out for my first #50MHz #UKAC for quite a while. Flat conditions. Fingers crossed for next month π€ #Hamr #HamRadio
A bit breezy at the portable site for last nightβs #144MHz #UKAC. Conditions seemed about average. Hope to be out for the #50MHz on Thursday next week. Fingers crossed for some SpE π€ #Hamr #HamRadio
A pleasant evening yesterday for the #144MHz #UKAC. Conditions seemed about average, or maybe slightly above. #Hamr #Hamradio
QSO Map for the 432 MHz RSGB UK activity contest.
White car parked on grass verge next to single track road. With an 18 element 432 MHz beam on a 5 metre mast on the far side.
Some nice tropo in last nightβs #432MHz #UKAC. Made for some easy contacts into ON/PA/F. On the flip side I really struggled to the south west. Didnβt even hear anyone in IO81 or 82. Still, itβs the most contacts (45) Iβve made in a 70cm contest for years π #hamr #hamradio
GM4ZUK/P was a big signal down here is IO94. Think IO97 is a new one for me on 70cm.
Nice conditions into GM for last nightβs #144MHz #UKAC. Good to be setting up in daylight again. As always, great fun π #hamr #hamradio
A 7 ele OWL Yagi
Conditions were pretty good for last night's #144MHz #UKAC. Managed 40 QSOs, in 17 Squares. Best I've done in a while. Fingers crossed for similar next month. #hamr #hamradio
Must admit I still like receiving a real card. Logbook of the World is fine for awards, but a nice QSL card is always welcome.
Mine would have been in 2003. It was still in beta at the time I think. I havenβt used it for years.
Conditions not great for last nightβs #144MHz #UKAC, but a fun evening nonetheless. A bit breezy at the portable site. Dry and fairly mild though. #VHF #hamr #hamradio
The next event in the popular 145 Alive series is on Sunday 26 January between 12pm to 3pm.
There will be nets operating in most Maidenhead Squares across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. To take part in the event all you need to do is call in and make contact with others.
It's that time again... another Radio Caroline North weekend live from the Ross Revenge.
Hope you find it soon Adam. I use a 7 ele OWL Yagi. Seems to work quite well.
