Very few turn based RPGs allow you to switch between real time combat and turn based, especially if you're cleaning up trash mobs.
The real time combat was a bit rough in Daybreak 1 and 2, but greatly improved in Trails Beyond the Horizon with the new ZOC system.
Got the place to myself for a few hours cause the girls wanted to try a place in Queens. So figured I'd just lounge and play a game.
Ever just cycle and stare at your library for an hour and not actually start a game? Yeah, I'm just happily wasting time doing nothing but wasting time.
From the outside, this is insane considering how much Sony likes remaking and remastering things, and how incredibly good Bluepoint is at doing it. RIP Bluepoint. www.ign.com/articles/pla...

BREAKING: PlayStation is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the studio responsible for modern remakes of classic games such as Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, Bloomberg News has learned.
A shocking end for a well-respected studio.
I saw a conspiracy theory yesterday that the goal is to eliminate all local data storage and push everything into the corporate cloud where it will be scraped to train A.I. (and exploit us)
And I'm having a difficult time dismissing it

WGRealms Demon Throne is fan game/mod/total conversion of Duke Nukem 3D. It has RPG elements, two characters (including Duke himself), and lots of levels to play.

... But PC's have problem of no fixed hardware, despite having much more power out there. So, no precompiled shaders here on PC yet (nobody's tackled this issue) - so we get drilled w/ stutters & slow-downs problems on 1st run-through of an area, but no issues on a cached re-run of area. 2/2
It's really hard to "win" right now, when dev's use RTGI stuff & don't/can't optimize. Consoles have the advantage of precompiling shaders (eliminating the PC stutter problems) b/c they are fixed-boxes of CPU/GPU/RAM combos (i.e. 1 or 2 config's of hardware - usually regular & Pro versions)... 1/2
UE5 is super-demanding period. Especially now w/ more dev's using both Lumen & Nanite together (RTGI stuff) & forcing them, which can absolutely kill performance. Consoles aren't built for this properly; they really need newer AMD type of AI-based GPU's to do this right (i.e. to maintain 60fps+).
UE5 ain't going to run well on consoles, when they (dev's) enable both Nanite & Lumen. Both Nanite & Lumen on = RTGI; so expect poor performance even on consoles. AMD hardware from 2020 has no AI & ain't built for that on consoles; esp. iGPU stuff. That was built for raster (i.e. no RT, no GI)
Unreal Engine 5 will do Unreal Engine 5 things. [shrug]

I really wish I had done this as well with FF4, but better late than never.
Can't wait to do the same for FF6.

Keep also in mind w/ PC games w/ shader issues, esp. on 1st run-through: provided you don't change GPU and/or its drivers, the replay should be smoother b/c it'll already been "warmed-up" from the 1st time & cached properly for re-entering areas & re-usage of special FX & anything shader-related.
