Hello folks, so I have bad news with regards to Hunter's Survival Guide. TLDR: The series isn't going away, it's just going to need to be privated on all platforms and possibly remastered again. I spent a while going through PixaBay (an online asset library) looking for non-attribution assets and music to avoid another UMG-TikTok spat that would result in me having to retroactively offline an entire serialised playlist... or so I thought! After repeated copyright strikes on TikTok for Episode 4 I decided to take a deep dive on videos using the flagged sound and found what I assume to be the original poster (who I will not name for reasons that will become apparent). I found their Pixabay Account (where I think the music used in the intro section had been deleted and reuploaded in January) and found it was an attribution licence, not non-attribution. Normally that wouldn't be an issue, I'd contact the uploader, advise them of the issue, make a donation and then alter the descriptions on the videos wherever possible (assuming that the use in an intro sequence didn't qualify as 'standalone') and was just about to do so until I saw a bunch of AI Generated Illustrations on said account. Now, this upload is apparently from as recent as 2023, and even if I assume that none of that section I used for used for the HSG Intros contained artificially generated sounds, or that the artist was just padding their Pixabay or just using AI for album covers? I can't guarantee it. My studio, Wee Red Shed Productions, has a clear policy that we do not use Generative AI in our creative works or platform creators who use it. I'm thankful to have at least a portion of some of the footage to remaster the episodes, and you can expect a video update soon, but for now I hope the supporters won't mind a pause in our Hunt.
