If iPhone, you can “unload” or “uninstall” apps. Both are reversible, manually.

Disengage by: (iPhone applicable)
1. Mute phone. (My modus operandi)
2. Disconnect from cellular & Wi-Fi service.
3. Turn off all notifications, adding 1-2 ppl as “exceptions” (emergencies).
4. Use “Focus” function (has several selections)
5. All notifications are silenced from 7pm-8am.

Ironically had a ~90+ minute conversation yesterday on reason 2) with another biologist & fellow autist in Lowe’s home store.

Love meeting fellow nerds in odd places! Especially when sharing rabbit holes. 😁

Saddens me that human vice rots the quality of institutions that are the cradle for teaching future #scientists & have a significant influence on scientific discoveries.
Strive to be better; at least fair to all people within your structure, instead of protecting the miscreants. Shame on you.

Met a (autistic) brilliant young man yesterday who left #academia >7 yrs due to very unethical behavior (plagiarism, misogyny, harassment, lying) of a colleague & complete denial/obstruction by uni ethical & HR committees. Was a familiar story & reason I left 14 yrs ago, diff university. 1/2

Sea Pen (Charnia masoni)
An extinct and possibly one of the first described forms of complex life in the Ediacaran Period (Precambrian). Very interesting life form.

The well known trilobite, possibly the most famous arthropod of the early Cambrian.
Surprised at how diverse trilobites were with many genera!

Spent a few hours in the Cambrian and Ordovician periods of the #Paleozoic era.
However, my obsession has been stalled in the late-Hadean eon, #Eoarchean and #Archean eras. 🙄

I would love to see a deep psychological analysis of all this, not just him but modern society as a whole. “Would-be autocrats create environments of fear and powerlessness, using intimidation, overwhelming force… 1/2

While this country is destroying nations and people, trying to be a target for war due to a raving fucking lunatic, I’m headed off to immerse myself in the #Paleozoic era.

He’s not really an outlier. He just happens to be the current president voted in office w/ lots of publicity. Lack of accountability has been a growing barrel of rotten apples for many years in all sectors of society.

This 💯. In fact, it is a major factor for many years of why we are where we are right now. It is also a sour fact throughout our society, down to the bottom of the pyramid. Accountability has been going the way of the dinosaur extinction.

What my cave stay taught me about sensors Five days isolated in complete darkness retunes the senses. Scientist Kiana Aran explains how sensors help to share the sensations with others.

I would so love to do this. Reminds me telling colleague & wght training partner one day (1996) while doing squat sets of wanting sensors to track hormones, glucose, heart rate, brain activity b4, during & post-training session.

Bigger question: why do most #Tetrapods have five digits?
Then we can get to the topic below.

Rational solution: let kids decide but have an agreed upon list of what NOT to wear.

Visit Bosque del Apache NWR in Socorro, NM, during winter. Snow geese make the sky all white at dawn & dusk. More SH cranes & geese than you can imagine. Sunrises are also incredible (saw lots of them banding ducks @ pre-dawn).

Learning the history of TX explained A LOT. Even Larry McMurtry (born & raised in TX) disliked TX. Said once in an interview TX will never let go of their myths and Texans truly believe it/they are the “last frontier”. Even if it destroys them.

Repeatedly said before #OrangeHair sat in Office, Am citizens will be killed by his denizens, like Kent State.
Reply: “The police wouldn’t shoot or kill their own peaceful citizens.”
I said often that he will start a war.
Reply:”He won’t be able to do that.”
Yet here we are 14 months into it. 😡

George Carlin on Euphemisms

A rose is a rose.
Aka a pretty overly-fragrant flower on a painful thorny stem and plant that is also a pain to grow.
Euphemisms are about the same. A pain in the arse.
