This week marked the deadline in most states to get health coverage for next year through the ACA marketplace. Millions of families are scrambling to figure out their options, many facing sticker shock as Republicans gutted health care funding and drove up costs.
I’m part of the sandwich generation, holding everything together. What lets me sleep at night is knowing my mom can get quality care when she needs it.
That’s why Medicare and Medicaid aren’t abstract policy debates in my house and they aren’t for millions of families.

Over the weekend, she fell and broke her wrist.
As I take on this race for Congress, I’m still first and foremost a daughter and a mother caring for my mom who has dementia, while raising two boys.
