Westminster Meeting House raided by Metropolitan Police again. Statement: “For Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life.

Whilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent.

That this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.” – Oliver Robertson, Head of Witness and Worship

I have never heard of any allegations about him, if he's a safeguarding concern I'd like to let GPEW know about this, I don't want sex pests in my party and it would be good to know what the allegations are to facilitate this. I'm sorry if you were involved in this case and I've caused you upset.

Guardian headline that says "Gen Z males twice as likely as baby boomers to believe wives should obey husbands: global survey shows young men and boys hold more traditional views about gender roles than older generations"

If younger people believe them more than older people shouldn't we stop calling these views "traditional"? Maybe something like "discriminatory", "patriarchal", or "misogynistic" instead?

It's an old BNP policy from their 2010 manifesto. Literally... except they are offering less money. See my TL earlier.

Hmmm, resigned from government but not as an MP... which is a shame as our Greens in the NW are a tight by election machine at the minute! www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

When the Prime Minister spreads lies about people - there are consequences.

He's made some outrageous smears. It's debasing our politics.

If you are visiting glorious Brighton on this sunny day (as you definitely should), please be aware that at Churchill Square this van is live scanning everyone’s faces and making the city look more like a police state than the gorgeous day out it is!

How democratic is the UK? The UK has a crisis of democracy

Who benefits the most form the UK's current form of democracy?

Did you vote for this?

24m people live below the minimum living standard.

Unchecked profiteering – energy companies made £125bn profit since 2020. 120,000 people a year die in fuel poverty.

Who/What governs the UK.
