Everyone around you will socially and financially punish you for openly challenging any of it, yet it’s something we have to do because it is destroying us all from the inside out.

The priorities of western culture and ideology are destructive. They are garbage. They are all that those of us raised in the belly of imperialism know and it is a challenging perspective to escape.

We struggle to coexist with EVERYTHING, including ourselves, because we are conditioned to only care about what can be appraised and deemed of value to others. And we are punished when we do not comply with this extractive world order being imposed upon us.

We view the world through a lens of worth, shaping the most basic aspects of existence and community into transactions that must be constantly monitored and assess to determine whether relationships should be saved when their value decreases.

We have been lied to about what living is, what our role is, that there is a hierarchy of life, atop which sits humanity. We are conditioned to believe that our lives are commodities to be disassembled and traded; that our existence is a matter of worth and value.

We are the victims and the protectors of violent propaganda, so much that we have rewired our entire bodies, and choose to lie about what we are doing to ourselves and each other.

They revel in their cruelty and depravity, telling themselves that this is their role, this is their call to power, and everyone opposing them is just fodder for their circlejerk of violence.

Their identity is comprised of lies that tell them they are special and have not just the right, but the responsibility to eliminate anyone who contradicts their chosen beliefs.

They not only fight to protect their oppressors, they destroy the people fighting to protect and save them from their oppressors.

They are more comfortable with the boot on their neck than the unknown. They are cowards willing to parrot lies & discharge arms rather than admit the tiniest of truths.

The rise of social media made lying so much more difficult, but there are so many people who tell themselves that they are safer and better positioned under the boot of their oppressors than in their open crosshairs.

And despite that clear contrast, I still bought into the propaganda - because it's hard to resist. And we were lied to ALL THE TIME.

I've known a lot of it was cuz I'm Black and had to navigate this shit in close enough proximity to whiteness that I've seen and experienced the stark difference in how I was being treated.

One of the hardest things I've had to reckon with over the past decade is how everything we were conditioned to believe about this country and this government has been bullshit.
