These are a gorgeous evergreen Australian native, which get covered in tiny white flowers in spring, followed by big pink/red flower bracts around Christmas, hence the name! They put on quite a display! 😍 Bonus points for being drought and frost tolerant! 🥳
I’ve built up the soil in a slight mound so it drains, added compost and seaweed tonic. About to go back with some mulch and chicken wire to keep chooks and cows off it 😉

I finally decided to plant it just outside our house paddock gate where it has plenty of room to grow and will look pretty spectacular in summer as we drive in 🤩🤞
They can grow to 10m tall and 6m wide, so it’s not one you can just stick in the garden🧐
They also don’t like heavy, wet, clay soils, which is exactly what I have of course!🤣
Now I’m looking at the plants I have dithered over… My Mum gave me this lovely NSW Christmas Bush last November ‼️ I’ve been trying to choose a good spot to plant it in ever since! 🤦🏻♀️😬
Well, it’s autumn again, although it’s still hot and humid 🥵, so not long until it starts cooling off! 🎉
With some rain coming, it’s tree planting time!

I’ve had heaps of good spuds, with more to come, of all sorts of different varieties, which has been a pretty good outcome after a lot were knocked out by a spring hail storm. Time to get more in the ground too 🧐

I’ve ‘bean’ saving these Blue Lake Climbing Beans for several years now, so I didn’t want to lose them either! 🥰
The overwintering of potted chilli plants has worked alright. I’m getting a lot more off the plants than last year, so I’ll be doing that again with different types 🌶️😊

Once it’s let loose, it’s pretty impossible to eradicate without massive, repeated efforts! Every tiny part of the root left will regrow and multiply.

🚨‼️Ginger varieties can also go feral if planted out in your garden! Unfortunately there are plenty of examples of ornamental ginger on the roadsides and gardens ‘round here where it has escaped.

I’m also growing it in a pot in order to move it around to find the best spot for it, plus I don’t want to risk it becoming invasive. I’d have to find out a lot more about it to risk planting it out! 😉

These are not fabulous examples of this plant as I’m growing it in morning sun, when I believe it prefers dappled shade. 🧐 I’ll move it to a better spot in winter.

Myoga is grown for its edible flower buds and shoots rather than roots as other ginger is. The buds and flowers appear at the base of the plant in summer and autumn. The leaves of the plant will then die off over winter, shooting again in spring.

I thought the single Luge or the Skeleton racing was insane enough! Luge is feet first down a curvy icy tube on a bit of metal and Skeleton Is head first down the curvy icy tube on a bit of metal. Luge get up to speeds over 150 km/hr and Skeleton not much less! 😳🤯
