Cover: Mushroom Mother of Us AllΒ by Paul Lewin. In the center, an elderly Black woman has her eyes serenely closed, a brown-orange nose piercing on her right nostril and an orange line/mark on her chin. Her hair are the green leaves of trees, trunks growing out of the side of her face, and mushrooms growing through the leaves. She wears large earrings of orange, sienna, with aqua and white lines and dots. Her hands hold a bowl lined with Black faces and mushrooms growing out of the bowl. In the center of the bowl and thus the front of her chest is an orange sun surrounded by a dark pink halo like a globe. The text "Uncanny," "November/December 2025," "Issue Sixty-Seven," and the credits are in white.

This series is AMAZING - readers who love transcendental fantasy - broken heroes - deep psychological characters - DO NOT MISS THIS TREASURE OF A SERIES. It is, start to finish, brilliant.
I enjoyed this series so much that I rebought the whole series in print after reading it as an e-book. It claims valuable shelf space just to the right of @jannywurts.bsky.social's Wars of Light and Shadow.
I got the call from @laneheymont.bsky.social this morning, but this is the first time I've seen it in print: GIRL IN THE CREEK is a Stoker finalist for Best Novel!
I have to look at it again, because it's almost impossible to believe my eyes.

List of nominees
Thrilled and a bit shy to announce that my essay βMy Long Road to Horrorβ is an official nominee for a Bram Stoker Award. π€©
Congrats to ALL of the finalists and editor Becky Siegel Spratford, who pulled together a HELL of a book of powerful essays on what drew us to horror. (And thanks, Mom!)
Screenshot of "Wordsmith & Writers", successor to Poets & Writers impersonation, with obvious AI images and banner at top claiming that this is Poets & Writers new domain

A scammer is impersonating Poets & Writers (on right: the scam solicitation). They created a fake website scraped from P&W at a lookalike URL. When P&W got that taken down, they slapped up the site screenshotted on left; note the false claim in the red banner at the top (also the obv AI images)
Oh no, I hope she's OK!
Looking for a novella, a love story, a character galvanized through a momentous change? Prequel to Wars of Light and Shadow and a nice intro before the AUDIO RELEASE of the next two books in the series. Also available in e book format and cheaper than a fancy coffee. Let's Go!

Love that AI, a thing we hate and donβt want, steals everything, ruins everything, shittifies everything. Drinks our water, plagiarizes our art, pisses all over our information fidelity, drives kids to suicide, serves the right-wing, and fucks up our devices and services. Good job, techbros!
Wow.
