Publishing a long ass article about the oil industry without mentioning the damage it's causing the planet is a choice.
It's like writing an article about asbestos and not bothering to mention it causes cancer.
Turns out there are good reasons to leave some places to be wild.
The BC NDP government continues to backslide, this time prioritizing mining corporations over Indigenous rights and ecosystems in Clayoquot Sound:
Truth.
As the price of oil & gas explodes, I recently read about how the price impact is almost entirely speculative, as the *supply* of oil and gas hardly budges, particularly in places like Canada. It's all just straight up profits for the gas companies. Remember that as you fill up the tank this week.

Even in the face of a mass shooting the federal government won't act with urgency to regulate this dangerous technology. How can we expect them to put up much-needed guardrails in all the other contexts, from IP theft to disinformation to child sex abuse material etc. etc. etc.?
Being exhausted by a war that other's are fighting is a luxury of distance. And Ukraine's obsessive drive to innovative ought to give us plenty of reason to hope.

Watching in Dakar, Senegal!
Not just Nigeria and Kenya. Senegal too.
The African continent will likely have better electricity than most of North America by 2030.
Sorry. Finland is always my second choice in international hockey - we have often had Finnish players on my local junior team.
So close.
Breaking down the data, Ritchie shows that coal generates 50 times more waste than solar power — and 500 times more than wind.
A fantastic piece by @kategammon.bsky.social
on how screenwriters and filmmakers can talk about the climate crisis without scaring off audiences.
As someone who works in science and nature TV, I take everything in this piece to heart.

I can't say what your library can do for you. And it probably won't be perfect. But they may be willing to try.
Our library has quiet study rooms and a quiet floor. Some libraries have sensory rooms now. Suggest you call and ask if it has been a while. They may be able to accommodate you.
I love this type of story too. Almost missed it in the onslaught of darker stories. 🦖🦕
This type of story gives me hope in our fight against climate change, environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. Such resilience. 🪶
From the man who kicked an elected MP out of his seat so he could try again to get to the House of Commons.
What do tipping points mean for climate policy?
Climate change won't be smooth.
Delay reaching emission targets by a few years, and you might not just get slightly worse climate impacts.
You may unwittingly cross a line for unstoppable, massive changes.

It's hard to believe that I am down to my last 10 days in Senegal. It has been wonderful to spend so much time with my daughter and to explore a new culture.
I have a few more adventures planned for the weekend - birdwatching, museums and fabulous food!
