"ooh look at our new In Her Corner initiative to include women!"
rule of thumb: if it involves your marketing team, it's not the real systemic, transformative change that's needed

i bet you're really fun at parties and people enjoy interacting with you
i feel like it's making me a worse typist! I'm now struggling on my regular macbook pro keyboard AND on this thing. luckily I'm only using it for another half a day.
a photograph of a particularly tiny apple keyboard on a wooden desk with my finger pointing accusatorily at a particularly small enter/return key
this device is evil. do you see that enter key? probably you missed it because it's TINY
"I've missed your angry, passive-aggressive work muttering" - friend and former colleague, sitting next to me while i check slack
i swear it's not personal! i just have a lot of feelings to get out before i write anything!
one of them did confuse Alysa Liu with Eileen Gu which was a bit awkward
it's been really hard keeping my mouth shut when my male colleagues talked about ice hockey today.
i had to keep reminding myself they don't know about heated rivalry, they just wanted to talk about the olympics.
a small black pug is curled on the chest of a man lying on his back on the couch. the pug has a pensive look on his little face. the man is wearing a green tshirt and glasses. he's smiling down at the pug.
he is definitely thinking about how he finally tricked me into letting him bite my nipple this morning
omg gorgeous!! i absolutely adore black pugs, we got one for our second pug, Otto. a colleague said she thinks her black pugs were cheekier and i think i agree. Sosig looks full of personality too
you have a pug now?? i always remember you pugsat Alfie for us once
i explained to my friend how i use 25 min timers between my complex and drawn-out medication routine and he nodded and said "congrats, you've reinvented pomodoro timers"
what can i say, it's an addiction
a pack-a-day habit, but it's Coles gluten free hot cross buns
considering submitting to a conference in Japan so i can take a trip there on work's dollar to buy quilting fabrics
but new team is the light at the end of the tunnel. People have been so welcoming and excited, they're including me in their in-jokes, and even starting new ones with me! I'm so happy.
i am, however, leaving behind a bit of a hospital pass of a project. i will be spending the next two months trying to make it a bit less of a ... well, a complex risky beast.
And I'd like to shout out, once again, how sensible it is to have a clear company policy on how you can rotate within R&D teams on a regular, orderly cadence. It keeps people in the company and distributes very team-specific knowledge across the company. It's so smart and effective.
announced my team move today - i didn't realise it was weighing on my shoulders until now!
I'm switching from doing black magic execution engine things to ... well, no one really knows what it is yet, but it's called CoreCD with a team called Modern Deployments, to give you a taste.
Extremely hype!
this is just the first of many gems i have up my sleeve
thread of unintentional sexual innuendo from software developers, overheard and misinterpreted by my dirty mind:
"let's nut it out together"
my tattoo artist just called me Rainman because she said "i think we're about halfway through colouring the ivy leaves" and i said "we are, we're at 12.5 out of twenty"
(she was entirely joking and it was funny and also fair)
That would at least be funny!
This was sadly just a bit of a headscratcher.
Apparently a Lexus is the status symbol car to have for high net worth individuals, in this book's universe ๐คท
i mean, it was a terrible book and i didn't finish it for other reasons but the TWO Lexuses didn't help
my favourite game to play with my husband?
"guess what car this romance writer considers to be a signal of status and wealth"
anyone wanna guess the most egregious contender?
i have an amazing friend/accountant/actual adult who i am essentially paying to be my more-capable sibling in this endeavour. I'm so grateful for her, and i genuinely don't know how I'd tackle this without her.
having a parent in rest home care is a part-time admin job.
desperately wishing for siblings right now. even if they didn't do anything, at least I'd have a capable adult as a target for all my frustration
and ffs as you get older and retire, make a plan for your own care
i was on the list for shoulder surgery in Wellington for over two years with no hope of it happening and absolutely no communication.
i moved to Tauranga and the whole thing was scheduled and executed within six months. absolutely wild difference between the DHBs
love blocking out focus days in my calendar.
i get SO MUCH important shit done while avoiding focusing on the big important thing to do.
I can't quite believe this happened, I've been offered a ticket to the Australian Open on Wednesday through work.
Developers very rarely are on the receiving end of these sort of business partner invitations and i am SO excited and grateful to be going!
Freaking out about what to wear though
don't worry, tiny baby is getting all the pats to console him
I was telling my husband to look at how cute the dog was being, snuffling away at my mouth instead of his usual nose biting. should've known better. something unpleasant is always coming.
