And a feature request: a way to overlay traffic volumes (if there is a standardized data source) to compare ped/bike incident rate against would be interesting. It’s not the best measure, but could be helpful for neighborhood arterial and street comparisons.

One question: I’m not sure how to view multiple incidents at the same location. Ex: SW Campus Dr / 19th Ave SW in Federal Way has had ~7 incidents in the last 5+ yrs, but I only see one incident.

I did a doc request from WSDOT for the incident details for the crashes in a specific intersection because the crash dashboard is so light on detail. What they gave me wasn’t helpful. I requested the incidents from Federal Way PD (the responding entity) and they gave me a ton of info at no cost.

The incident report # and linking to WSP is great. I didn’t realize you can request reports from them for non-WSP involved collisions.

$10.50 PER collision report is criminal tho. People are better off requesting directly from the local/investigating entity.

Instead of sending all of the millions in revenue from red light and speed cameras to the police budget to hire more officers to write more parking/speeding tickets, FW could invest in a street design that prevents unsafe behavior in the first place.

Then they would yell I’m defunding the police.

Received some soft commitments from city staff to add delineation measures to prevent parking, but I wouldn’t call it a win.

Getting people who are about to spend $1m on a bad design to do it right the first time vs use ‘enforcement’ and the police on the back end feels impossible.

The city confirmed to me that the concrete hump is in-fact the 'designated shoulder' they are planning to install.

The same design where I have reported dozens of blocking cars and have to argue with officers that, yes, it is a legal sidewalk.

If you let people park there, they will park there.

We have to do this to pay for billionaire tax cuts, militarized secret police kidnappings and murders, and forever wars in the Middle East.

The city accepted a $500k grant for this project last December, and I would’ve sworn it said “sidewalk” at the time. Turns out it did! 🤔

If a 'designated shoulder' is another one of these concrete humps masquerading as a sidewalk, it's a hard no from me. People will just park in the space.

I will attend the mtg to ask the city to include specific designs in its agenda packet and to figure out what this designated shoulder plan is.

The Federal Way City Council hasn’t done much work in the time since they ousted the former council president.

Non-consent agenda items in the subsequent two meetings include:
- redo on council commission appointments
- citizen commission appointments
- co-living housing code amendment

the license criminalization scheme in Kansas...stripping immigrants of their legal status...

all of this shows, and is meant to show, that the legal rights of disfavored groups are conditional and can be rescinded at will

such discriminatory chaos is incompatible with a real inclusive democracy

So far the legislature is not including the cut in their budgets. FTR, these are the WA House members, all dems, who voted for the cut:

Ormsby, Gregerson, Macri, Berg, Bergquist, Cortes, Doglio, Fitzgibbon, Leavitt, Lekanoff, Peterson, Ryu, Springer, Stonier, Street, and Thai.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

The WA Senate Dems' budget proposal includes at least a whopping $310 million in cuts to public education:

❌ $140M cut to transition to kindergarten
❌ $110M cut to Local Effort Assistance (meaning an immediate budget cut to school district operations)
❌ $60M cut to budget depreciation calculations

I'm similarly outraged at the ESIT cuts. I can't tell if the reduction has been included in the first budget draft from the House today. fiscal.wa.gov/statebudgets...

She would likely miss out on a month of services at most due to turning three soon, but still. Access for all is so important.

It’s not just that the services are public and low/no cost, but speech therapy in-home or in-daycare is so convenient and the people are excellent! ☹️

Found out by reading this that my daughter will likely lose her Birth to Three speech therapy services due to the proposed HB 2688 cuts. 🤬
