well I caved and ordered a 9070 XT because I want 140+fps in Marathon but also refuse to turn any settings down

especially surprising given Apex Legends had (has) a great ping system that iirc was the result of playtesting with no chat
Would also love a commuter train to Tauranga 👀
Being able to travel HAM<->AKL without dealing with traffic is great, even if the train journey is 2.5hrs~, so I’m glad to see this extended and I hope it becomes permanent.

Screenshot of what's apparently supposed to be a "git flow" chart from Microsoft learning materials. It's full of bizarre spelling errors and fucked up diagram elements that make it pretty clear the thing was AI generated.
oh.... my god??
actual chart from learn.microsoft.com/en-us/traini... btw

Velosters rock, I want one!
Thoroughly enjoyed the Iron Lung movie
greatest steam update of all time, because of one unnecessary detail
well anyway I forgot they added a clips feature to discord and it defaults on (because of course). really should have figured it out sooner but god fucking damn. it was cutting my fps in half and occasionally just complete slideshow. quit discord -> back to 120+ instantly. odd that it was only PoE2
been tearing my hair out playing PoE2 these last couple weeks because my performance kept tanking and I couldn’t figure out why - only that restarting discord would instantly fix it. i could see discord using my gpu even with hardware accel off and i couldnt figure out WHY
Making mockups for artists to interpret takes basically no time and it's fun!
walks in the rain are unmatched 🌧️
i had ONE good eggs benedict at a cafe somewhere i cannot remember, and i’ve been chasing that dragon ever since - always disappointed. the hollandaise is always wrong
At New Zealand's Kawaiican cybersecurity convention, organizers hacked together a way for attendees to track CO2 levels throughout the venue—even before they arrived. www.wired.com/story/this-h...

i don’t need a steam machine but i WANT one. this looks so cool
Had this on for months and just switched computers. Had forgotten how much peace I had gained until I lost it again. :' D
Time to set it up on the new machine.
yay just turned off on Edge. had to use “https://google.com/“ instead of the {google:baseURL} pattern
yes, but this has the added benefit of being horribly expensive, environmentally destructive, and also less accurate
not overly surprised given the use of AI in The Finals, but disappointing nonetheless.
Screenshot from Windows Settings>Privacy and Security>Text and image Generation. "Text and image generation uses on-device AI technologies to quickly respond to requests. Turning this settings off will not affect apps and features using cloud AI technologies. Text and image generation Windows and anyone using this device can use Text and image generation.
BY THE WAY
If you've updated to Windows 11 recently, you're probably on version 25H2.
There's a new setting in Settings: Privacy & Security.
Scroll aaaaaaaalll the way to the bottom and you'll see "Text and Image Generation."
TURN IT OFF.

We're just two days away from revealing Arkheron! While this is the first time the world gets to see it, we've been quietly playtesting for a while now. We are super grateful to everyone who has tried it so far and helped us get it ready for our upcoming Alpha. Thank you!
If Ted Chiang, a truly superb creative writer (also; a background in compsci), is happy using the gym robot analogy to explain why using chatbots at university is antithetical to the purpose you're paying money and forgoing paid work to be there then I'm fortified in my view it's a good one.
I know Skinny has a genAI ad 🤮 not sure if any others have followed
anyway, it’s a very old chair (jan 1999) and the seat mesh will need replacing soonish (has a bit of a tear), but it still feels great to sit in, and i love something i can pull apart and fix myself.
it was $400 nzd ($236~ usd). probably a bit expensive for what it ended up being, but i’m happy w it
the recline functionality was a bit weird, always loose no matter the tension setting. took it apart, found and fixed the issue. recline works perfectly now, yay!
unfortunately the front tilt lock is busted. not too fussed about that though, seems fine having front tilt always on
