Humanity heating planet faster than ever before, study finds
Lovely, Iβve been looking in NE Hampshire, and none so far!
If you go back, in Heysham there is also a fab nature reserve (not far from the power station).
Beautiful pic
Biodiversity collapse threatens UK security, intelligence chiefs warn www.theguardian.com/environment/...
Itβs so lovely when we get some great urban wild flowers, we have a patch near us too
Loddon Lily Leucojum aestivum
Loddon Lily Leucojum aestivum
For #WildFlowerHour Loddon Lily (Leucojum aestivum) from NE Hampshire in a small copse which is a SINC (ancient woodland) - weβre not too far from the Loddon, so maybe native.
Definitely blackthorn is flowering our way, complete with a few left over sloes!
The joy of π¦, you can admire flowers from around the world, some fab flowers from Death Valley (we wonβt be going to the US any time soon, but so lovely to see pics)
Primula veris, the cowslip - a sign of spring
A day late for #wildflowerhour, but worth waiting for a dry day, and so nice to catch a little sunshine! Today on my walk my first cowslips of the year (well first couple), a welcome shot of yellow #wildflowerhour #signofspring
No but the map is a visual to support the arguments!
Weβre using the maps to show significance of habitat & wildlife corridors in an objection our local #wilder group is writing to a planning aplication. itβs a good visual aid (we suspect, the drive for houses outweigh the protection the LNRS looks like it should give to dormice, GCN & bats etc)
Snowdrops in an ancient wood
Stinky hellebore
For #WildFlowerHour, snowdrops in a local woodland SINC and a stinky hellebore with a ladybird (hiding from all the rain this week?)
Congratulations
I was wondering that, thank you
Winter heliotrope, gorse, periwinkle, hazel, white dead nettle, snowdrops, petty spurge, sweet violet, daisy, primrose
For #wildflowerhour #winterTen - Winter heliotrope, gorse, periwinkle, hazel, white dead nettle, snowdrops, petty spurge, sweet violet, daisy, primrose & a few others that didnβt make the collage! So pretty now itβs reached βsnowdrop carpet season!β
Clematis
An interesting find, growing through brambles - a clematis - such pretty markings, I think a garden escapee #wildflowerhour
Snowdrops
Winter heliotrope
Bird song
What a difference a dry sunny day makes - todayβs walk, the scent of winter heliotrope, the sound of birdsong & seeing snowdrops flowering in the verges #spring
Villager by Tom Cox
βWere there a fruit that grew in my garden throughout winter, I wonder if winters would seem a little less interminable.β Just what I needed to hear, waiting to watch spring appear, whilst reading Villager. Thanks @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social #books
net zero and commitments to use less carbon fuels is non negotiable, I want a world that my children (and theirs, if they have any), can inhabit. Climate change is here, it will impact - canβt pretend it doesnβt matter #headinthesand #noplanetB
Primrose
Hazel (male & female flowers)
Celandine
Signs of spring for #wildflowerhour - primrose, hazel & my first celandine
I read a book about walking the Thames - βMudlark: In Search of London's Past Along the River Thamesβ by Lara Maiklem, you might enjoy it - there was a chapter on this bit of path, so lovely to see your pictures!
Retiring in your 60s (because ageism exists), and doing voluntary work - Iβve learnt so much about conservation, wilding and ecology since retiring
Itβs so depressing, where I live weβre fighting plans for houses, and being told having habitats of regional or national importance is unlikely to stop it. How do we protect the environment for future generations & build on brownfield sites instead?
As the 2026 Big Garden Birdwatch begins, why is dedicated birdwatcher David Jobbins staying away? He wonders, what's the point when the governmentβs growth-at-all-costs policy rides roughshod over our impoverished natural environment. Read his analysis ‡οΈ

I love sea glass, and learnt some silversmith skills - one of my aims was to make things from sea glass, although finding the glass is the hard bit. Yours are lovely, so I will have to visit your shop, when I need a gift for a friend.
I love libraries, so many interesting books I've discovered over the years. I now rely on borrow box (for online borrowing) which is a library service (as libraries have reduced in number, and yes, you can always drive to nearby bigger towns - but I don't go there often enough).
The local #wilder team went for a walk to see what we could find, and were excited to find hazelnuts which had been chewed by dormice. Lovely to know we have some in our village. Isnβt the chew pattern pretty! #patternsInNature #dormice
Helleborus foetidus
A stinky hellebore (Helleborus foetidus) seen as a pavement plant wandering round some of the roads where I live, I love the little red line round the flower head. For #wildflowerhour, slightly late
Sounds great, will watch π
